I was impressed with what I saw yesterday. City would boss possession but we know how SAF deals with that, his team pack the middle and sit back and hit teams on the counter with deadly affect, the same was true in yesterday's derby. But what surprised me was Mancini's switch to 3 at the back instead of taking a man off up front (they only had Aguero anyway) or taking a player from midfield. Pretty bold move which almost paid off. Can anyone see Wenger adopting the packing out of midfield tactic employed by SAF, or playing 3 at the back like Mancini ?
I actually think we could accommodate 3 at the back. Koscielney- Mertesacker - Vermaelen. With Song and Frimpong sitting just in front in a DM role, with 3/4 attacking MF/Wingers in front of them. This would work best against teams who play through the middle, but I wouldn't want to use it against teams who play fast wingers as we'd get murdered.
Piskie that formation could actually work in alot of games but as you say against the big teams who play 4-3-3 we would get shredded on the wings and especially against spurs bale and lennon would have a field day, also that would mean that those who played on the wings for us would have to do a great defensive job, but yeh i would like to see us switch up the formation in some games, especially the ones at home where we are pushing for a goal, and i don't mean play the long ball or just bring on chamakh, but change the formation and get real width.
Agree with you. Sometimes i think Arsenal can play 3-5-2 but it is waste when we have Sagna,Gibbs and Santos. Agree with you, long days ago when i saw Arsenal,I think from Arsenal meet Barca in Champion Language 2006 Arsenal play with 1 forward is Henry to now. Wenger like to use 1 forward and 5 MF but it is not acfect every time.
