There's a lot of talk about Arsenal switching to a 4-4-2 system for next year. The 4-3-3 (4-2-3-1 or whatever you want to call it) relies very heavily on Fabregas as the creative influence. He is the pivot between defense and attack.

It was very obvious when he wasn't playing last year as the counter-attacks were much slower. There was no player with the vision of Fabregas to receive the ball and immediately and accurately spread it.

Part of the counter-attack problem was also Arshavin's lack of fitness. That meant Theo was always the target of the ball on the counter because of his pace. Doubling up the marking on him made it easy to...well...counter the counter.

For me, another pacey winger is needed to counter-point Theo on the left, whether there is a change of formation or not. Ryo could be this guy, but most likely not this year. Gervinho could also be the man to do this, or Mata if he comes in.

This would give two fast-paced wingers / inside forwards and split the defense on the counter as they would need to cover both.

I would also like to see the wingers changing wings often during the match - far more than last year - to keep the full-backs guessing who they will face and which way they will go. Theo cutting in and shooting from the left (something Bendy used several times last season with success), and whoever doing likewise from the right could be very productive.

Would you like to see 4-4-2 next season? Any other tactical changes you think are necessary?

I don't know about a lack of fitness but i just think Arshavin is a lazy ****.Personally i'd much rather us play 4-4-2.RVP was always touted as the next Bergkamp. We played quite well with a 4-4-2 with Bergkamp in the team <ok>

I'd go with a 4-4-2. RVP playing just behind Walcott at CF <ok>

Not sure if Jack would fit well in the centre of a 4-4-2 midfield. Nor Song. Not sure we have the wingers to play it. Gervinho is better when he plays wide of a 3 man attack. etc etc.

I think all signs point to a continuation of the current formation.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Nasri sign a new contract, take over from Cesc in the middle, Gervinho down one wing, Mata possibly down the other.

    so a midfield of

    Song or Frimpong/Coquelin
    Wilshere or Diaby/Rosicky/Lansbury
    Nasri or Ramsey

    And forward line of
    Theo or Gervinho
    RvP or Chamakh
    Arshavin or Mata

That to me has decent depth :)

Bit hard to say how we will turn out next season when we don't know if 2 key players will stay.
