i wanted to get your opinion on this debate, to me, the authorites seem to be telling referees to book players for tackling or send them off, i.e. Kompany last sunday, i was watching Real Madrid play last night against Valencia in the Copa Del Rey, whenever the away team went to tackle Di Maria or whoever, they fell down like a sack of potatoes, its ridiclous, we might as well give up on football if that's the case.
Didn't you start a thread the other day along the lines of 'Kompany's tackle was a disgrace, red card all day long'?
i thing the debate about tacking is a little overblown, sure some tackles are overly penalized, however in the past players dived into tackles with studs showing a lot less than they have recently in my view. I remember a lot more slide tackling from full backs in the past where the motion is a graceful slide rather than a jump at the ball, maybe the fact that players cant bump shoulders as much to pressure attackers to take the ball off them is causing players to dive in. i may be wrong though, but i do not remember as many dangerous stud showing tackles 10 years ago, but given some horrific leg breaks i can understand the policy of clamping down on those tackles
