According to the official Ipswich twitter page, Tabb's signed a two year deal starting from July 1st. Good signing, although I'm hoping he's not seen as a replacement for Martin, would rather see him in the middle and some more pace on the wing.
another good solid signing, the spine of the team is taking shape nicely. a couple of defenders and wingers now please MM.
Good solid signing and a very handy player at this level, agree Bleakers would prefer to see him in the middle although can be decent cover on the left. As I said yesterday would like to see us sign a few more creative/flair players to add to that solid base we're building. I'd say ideally we'd need 1 playmaker/creative CM (although I doubt we will now we've got Hyam, Wordsworth, Tabb and Skuse), 2 wingers, 1 striker (to take over from Chopra) even if Murphy signs, CB cover, RB cover and a GK. I see Kilgallon is in talks, I've always thought he was a very good CB but am slightly cautious now after hearing what Sunderland fans think of him!!
Very pleased with this. Although I didn't see any game Tabb played for us, I went a measly three times last season, he received good reviews from our fans. Pleased he's committed his future to us, isn't a loan, and a two year deal seems sensible all around. I think 3/4 years back players like Tabb would have received a three year deal, shows times are changing. He reminds me of a player we had 4/5 years back, who was a little terrier of a central midfielder, and ended up playing LM for us - Alan Quinn! The LM position has been a major issue for a long time really, regarding a PROPER left sided player. Also, I am still to be convinced Cresswell is the best defender of all time, so I'm unsure I would want a combination of Cressy behind an attacking winger.
Yes Westy I see the resemblance with Quinn, who I always felt was quite underrated but definitely not a LM at least Tabb is left footed and doesn't drift too much. You see although we lack a LM if we sign Murphy and we've also got Tabb and Wordsworth who although not their favoured position can all play there (plus forgotten man Carson), I'd say the RW is more in need of strengthening as I'm really not a fan of Edwards playing there, he just doesn't do enough in games for what he is capable of. But ideally it would be great to see a RW and LW come in. As for Cressy, I think he's alot better defensively than people give him credit for, I wouldn't say he's superb at defending but for me he offers everything I want from a left back. I think alot of the time why he's looked poor defensively is due to those around him, whether that be the CB playing next to him or the LM ahead of him not giving him much support.
I think the thing that delights me the most about this signing is the fact that JT has been here, can see the good things that are happening from the inside and was ready to commit. Thats got to be a good sign, plus the fact that we have used the loan system how it should be, to look at players to see if they fit in and could do a job for us.
