Taarabt, Phillips and FIVE other QPR players set to leave if Rangers are relegated 16:19 01 May 2015 Jack Green please log in to view this image Adel Taarabt and Matt Phillips of QPR (Getty Images) Archant Richard Dunne wants to play for QPR next season even if the club are relegated from the Premier League. These players, however, probably won’t be sticking around. } Adel Taarabt Taarabt has failed to secure a regular place in the QPR first team this season. Blessed with quick feet, great vision and an eye for goal, he has all the attributes needed to be a Premier League playmaker, but questions remain over his work-rate and attitude. Chris Ramsey has not trusted the Moroccan to be a part of QPR’s survival bid and a move abroad is looking likely at the end of the season, whether the Rs are relegated or not. Matt Phillips Looking back on this season everyone will remember one thing about Matt Phillips: his 40-yard screamer in the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. Many will forget that QPR tried to offload the winger in January with Derby the team most interested in signing him. Phillips is one of the few QPR players whose stock has risen during this miserable season, and Rangers will now face a battle to hold on to him in the summer. Southampton and West Brom are among the teams reportedly looking to sign him. Rob Green QPR’s goalkeeper has had a decent season and he looks likely to seal a move to a Premier League at the end of the season. West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has praised the England International in recent weeks, but Green’s former club are well-stocked at the position with Adrian and Jussi Jaaskelainen. Chelsea are the club who will most likely sign him this summer as Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking for a veteran to back-up Thibaut Courtois if Petr Cech leaves. Samba Diakite QPR’s forgotten man, Diakite was most recently sent out on loan to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad. He was recealled by Rangers in January but has not played any part in the club’s season so far. Diakite cost QPR £3.5m when he joined from Nancy in 2012, but he has made just 25 appearances since then. He is likely to leave in the summer, with the club unlikely to recoup any of the original transfer fee. Junior Hoilett Like Phillips, Hoilett was nearly offloaded during the January transfer window with German club Borussia Monchengladbach interested. The 24-year-old could not complete his move, however, and he has been little more than a bit-part player of late. Chris Ramsey does not appear to trust the Canadian to fulfil his defensive duties, as just one of his last eight appearances has come away from Loftus Road. He looks sure to be sold in the summer if the club can find a buyer. Sandro At his best, Sandro is one of the most talented players in the QPR squad. A bruising holding midfielder who has a good eye for a pass, he has been capped 17 times by Brazil. QPR paid £10m for his services from Tottenham and they will likely be looking to cash in on him in the summer. Plenty of clubs across Europe should be interested in signing the 26-year-old if he decides the Championship is not for him. Charlie Austin This one will hurt QPR fans. Rangers’ star man has been excellent this season, with 17 goals in all competitions, and he will be a wanted man for clubs in need of a top-class finisher this summer. QPR’s chances of holding on to Austin will improve greatly if they manage to save themselves from relegation. If they go down, however, he looks set for Southampton, Liverpool or Newcastle.
I guess it is a bit like the National Deficit and Debt. We have both deficit and debt and it is going to hurt to sort them out just like it is hurting to sort out the National scene. The next gamble by TF & Co is that we will keep buying season tickets at whatever level the club ends up at.
One - or both- of Onuoha and Culker will want away too if they can find a Premiership taker. I cannot see Fer staying. Then there are those who we won't get anything for ... Barton and Zamora's contracts are up. As is Brian Muphy's. Of course Ferdinand and SWP are off as their contracts are also finished - thank goodness. Also, Kranjcar, Isla and Vargas will be off as their loans will be finished. That leaves: MacCarthy, Hill, Traore, Henry, Dunne, Suk-Young, Faurlin, together with Doughty, Furlong, Grego-Cox, Harriman, Andrade and Ehmer.
Wow there's some real thought gone into that piece, well done, not. I'd keep Dunne for the championship though, he was a rock last time and we will need experience.
Exactly. More fool us for reading this stuff. Who is Jack Green? If he is claiming to be an ITK, well mate join the rest of the universe. If he's a journo, send him to Pearson. Speaking of which name me one paper or TV reporter who has not labelled his remarks on Wednesday night as a 'bizzarre rant'. Silly me, I thought they were champions of freedom of speech and the public's right to know. Well perhaps so unless you tell them a few home truths about their work.
I suspect the article is broadly right. The only player that might, possibly, stay imo would be Phillips. We don't have an abundance of skill in our team now - certainly compared to other Prem teams - when you take the above players away, we're left with something pretty uninspiring.
