Taarabt gets QPR advice JAY Bothroyd reckons troubled team-mate Adel Taarabt can take a leaf out of his book when league action resumes against Stoke on Saturday week. Bothroyd bounced back from the wilderness to score in successive matches and also set-up a deflection for Heidar Helguson against Manchester City on Saturday night. The England international was unlucky in the first half when a third header grazed the outside of the past to leave international team-mate Joe Hart rooted to the spot. Boss Neil Warnock admitted he was happy with the pairing of Bothroyd and Helguson in attack – but that comes at the expense of Taarabt struggling with a knee and stomach complaint. The forward reckons the Moroccan has it all to do to win back a place after a lack-lustre last few games – and Bothroyd should know, he himself was dropped for failing to score in the first eight games. He added: “Adel knows he’s just got to work hard to get back in the team, although self-belief is the main thing. “There were 11 men out there against City who played with their hearts, and Adel’s way back, when he’s fit, is to show the same thing.” Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest QPR news. iReader http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...71/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
QPR star backs team-mate for England call-up - QPR - London 24 Queens Park Rangers' Jay Bothroyd (right) celebrates scoring his side's first goal of the game with teammate Anton Ferdinand QPR star backs team-mate for England call-up Ian Cooper Wednesday, November 9, 2011 11:55 AM Bothroyd believes it is ‘only a matter of time’ before Ferdinand represents his country Jay Bothroyd has backed his QPR team-mate Anton Ferdinand for an England call-up in the near future. Ferdinand has impressed in the Rangers defence this season since signing from Sunderland, and has won praise for his level-headed performances during the ongoing controversy surrounding Chelsea’s John Terry. The 26-year-old centre-back has represented England at Under-18, 20 and 21 level but is yet to win a senior cap, and striker Bothroyd says his displays so far this campaign suggest he could soon force his way into Fabio Capello’s plans. “Anton’s had a hard time, but he’s been colossal at the back for us. I think it’s only a matter of time until he gets called up to the England squad,” said Bothroyd. “We haven’t needed to rally around him. He comes in, worked hard and when you come onto the training pitch that kind of thing goes out the window, you just concentrate on the football. “When you go home it might be on your mind, but Anton’s a professional, he’s worked hard, and I think that’s shown in his performances.” Meanwhile, Bothroyd believes Adel Taarabt still has a part to play for QPR this season after he was dropped for the Manchester City game – but will need to earn his place in the side. “What does Adel Taarabt have to do, just work hard, and believe,” said Bothroyd. He had a knock on his knee and then a bad stomach, but he just needs to work hard. “[Against Manchester City] there were 11 out there who played with their heart and gave 100 per cent. This is right but to be fair I'm not sure if the bad performances have been down to Taarabt not being bothered. Generally he's a bit of a twit and gets too emotional but he has been trying. I think his confidence seems to have gone out of the window and needs to get that back somehow. He needs to just keep his head down and concentrate, like Anton has been doing. Hopefully he will be given the chance by Warnock again. Maybe if he comes on as a sub and changes a couple of games in succession?
