ADEL Taarabt’s future at QPR hangs in the balance – despite the midfielder’s return to form.

Neil Warnock admitted the mercurial talent might have played his last game in hoops even though he has had his eyes opened by Taarabt’s performances during the holiday games.

The 22-year-old is on the way to the African Cup of Nations with Morocco, as is team-mate Armand Traore for Senegal.

But the Rangers boss was guarded over keeping a player who has caused him more than a few headaches in the recent past.

“I just don’t know honestly, and it would be fair to say what happens to Adel is in the balance,” said Warnock. “I’ve not received any firm bids for him, but there is two and a bit weeks to go in the window – and we’ll have to wait and see.

“I don’t think it will matter he’s away with Morocco. These days deals can be done easily with modern technology.

“But he’s been fantastic for us over the last few games. He knew he had to knuckle down and become more of a team player – and he has.

“He’s lost weight, looked sharper, and been an all-round better player.”

But there has been constant speculation linking the former Spurs player with a host of European clubs, notably Paris St Germain.

Warnock even joked that if the French came in with a multi-million pound bid for Taarabt, he would drive him there himself.

Team-mate Shaun Derry also reckoned the midfielder was in danger of wasting his talent, and Taarabt sat out all of November and most of December no thanks to a ‘stomach complaint’ and lack of form.

However, his link-up play against Norwich, Arsenal and Swansea made him arguably the Rangers player over Christmas, and Rangers would be looking for a minimum £6million from would-be suitors.

Agreed. Selling him for £6m would leave us with little more than spare change, and is not an idea which should be entertained IMO.

I have just watched QuickTime film posted by Northolt on Twitter re Adel Taarabt V Norwich

You complete fools who want him out ... You aren't QPR and you know **** all about football ... Given the chance I would beat the hoops out of you ... That player represents what QPR is all about ... Talented football has been what we are .

We must keep him as he looked to be the best on the park yet again
Wonder why he got a bit pissed off with his treatment via Barton
You stupid stupid fickle ****ers who even think about cash we may get for Wannock to waste
Taarabt got us here and if we kept the team built around him then the story couldn't have been worse as it is know could it?
Top ten player in premier league even on a off day he sees more tries more and will be rewarded I am sure

He is far too good for the fickle fans we have that's for sure

Blimey DT that Mexican sun must be getting to you. But even expressed more moderately you are spot on. As I've said many times, we will tell our grandchildren we were lucky enough to see Adel Taarabt play football. I fear he will almost certainly blossom somewhere else now though.

Yes apologies but first chance I have had to get good wifi to watch vids
He looked very good on the highlights just very cross that not so long ago fans on here were slagging off the best player we have had possibly ever ... Even if he goes elsewhere I hate ignorance to talent
Off to breakfast and it's already 28 so sun is a factor but doesn't stop me wanting to name and shame the fans who got it all do very wrong
It's so simple Barton don't fit at QPR and Taarabt must be allowed to pull the strings ... Alas I fear it's too late at times as Wannock wants to play Sheffield steel

With the current bunch of players he is the only hope we have of keeping us in the Premiership. No creativity or imagination without him.

My family are dotted all over the uk and we havemanure, scum, leeds and l'pool supporters in our ranks :frown: but they all have commented on why wasnt Taarabt not playing and when he has how good he is.

I think its a case of cant see the wood for the trees for some of our supporters.

I think rather than criticise fans for their lack of appreciation, we should be criticising Adel... Not for his lack of talent or even maturity and wisdom - but for his lack of loyalty and appreciation for a club and manager who've until recently laid it all out on a plate for him.

Yes he goes missing in games and flails and flounders at times. That never halted our adulation of his otherwise evident genius. Where all the criticism of him started was last summer when our captain was busy selling himself to anyone but his employers.

problem is - some people see it as an 'either/or' with Taarbs and Barton, and they hate Barton for 'keeping their Adel out of the team'.

Facts are, Taarabt has been out of form, he's had illness, he's been petulant, he's been happier on a bus than on the team coach, and him and his agent have talked him up into a player that, this season, has not appeared on the pitch. Yes he has undoubted talent, but he needs to show it where it counts. He's given glimpses over the past three games, but not enough to affect the results in any way. That's why he's been out of the team.

DT, you can try and turn this into yet another of your 'I hate Barton' threads, but try focussing on Taarabt for once and understanding why he's not been the player this season that we saw last year.

I have no shame in having the opinion I do, because it's based on what I see - here and on the pitch. let's talk about the subject though, and not descend to childish taunts? "Specsavers" indeed. [SARCASM]Both original and highly amusing [/SARCASM]

That's all such old news though. Over the last few weeks NW has said that Adel had knuckled down, lost weight, got fit and played really well. Problem is...what have we got without him?!!

As recent as the Fulham bus trip. Back on form now, they say. No, not quite. What's happened of late is he's clearly under confident and swapped innovation and audacity for comformity and pass and move. Typical youngster, has to be either black or white. Truth is in the shades of gray - his reputation and career must be cake and eat it. We all need both aspects. Ask Messi!

Don't agree. Did you see the nutmegs he was carrying out against Norwich? Back to his confident self and starting to play really well. Hit the post with a very good free kick too.
I just think he is an easy target ( his own fault...or maybe his advisors'? ). Everyone was saying that he needed to knuckle down and work hard and show some team ethic. He's done all that and he still gets moaned at. People may realise his worth when we don't have him!?

Swansea, Sunderland and Norwich he looked on the way back, Arsenal largely anonymous. I would love him to be destroying teams like he did in the Championship, but its still 0 goals 0 assists this year. What he does bring is an entertainment value and excitement (not least in the tension of 'is he going to turn up this week') that I appreciate a lot more live than on the screen. Hope he stays til the summer, because I really don't think we will sign anyone as entertaining this window.

I wouldn't quite word it like you but I think the rest of our season would look very difficult without someone like Adel. If we're going to ship him out we'd have to find someone to replace him almost like for like.

I honestly believe that Taarabt has the potential to be one of the best players in football but has always let his stupid attitudes get in the way. He also sometimes shows poor understanding or respect for the game. If he could clear those problems up I'd want him at QPR until he retires.
