Taarabt faces QPR axe ADEL Taarabt has been told to get himself fit or lose his place in QPRâs team. The mercurial Moroccan (pic) was the Championship player of the year last season, and a permanent fixture in Hoopsâ starting XI. But boss Neil Warnock has warned that unless he sharpens his act, the midfielder could be watching Premiership action from the sidelines â especially as the likes of Joey Barton and four or five new players are on the cusp of joining the club. The manager said: âIf I bring four or five players in and Adelâs not fit â he wonât be in the team. He is not naturally going to be the main man â heâs going to be a good player in the squad. And he knows this to be fair to him.â Warnock has had more than his fair share of spats with the talented player in just one campaign â but was delighted with Taarabtâs attitude when picked to play lowly Rochdale in the Carling Cup on Tuesday â even if it did end with a 2-0 defeat. âAdel play against Rochdale three months ago? I donât think he would,â said Warnock. âBut heâs got to get fit with games. And all that summer speculation with Paris Saint German over a move, as well as meetings with agents and our chairman took its toll, which is why heâs not as fit as he should be.â iReader
Here we go again: That most unusual phenomenon of Hull fans and their weird obsession with QPR. I'll never understand that!
What a load of bollocks. When Ramadan is over he'll be back to his best. It was the same last year. How are Hull doing this season anyway?
I know, but it's more a case of ****ing up your drinking and eating patterns which for a professional athlete is going to have a major effect. I don't know if he follows it completely but he won't be taking fluids on during training or games if he does which will hinder him massively and he has to get up in the middle of the night to eat which is the worst time to do so.
Fair point about the effect on intake patterns, but NW hasn't been saying Adel is not fit because he's too thin. He looks overweight to me, and with no disrespect to the lad, I think the bids that were coming over from France during early summer had more of an impact on him than Ramadan...
That's right Northy. But what the "Dull" fans don't seem to get is that us fans don't want the drama! Personally I think its ridiculous in this day and age that a professional contractor on an insane salary is allowed indulge in behaviour that completely compromises his ability do perform his duties. Remember Avram Grant refusing to full-fill his role at Chelsea because of his rituals? The media/pundits were afraid to open their mouths on the subject. Its the same when players decide not to turn up for a vital game because their wife is having a baby. I wonder will COLIN be as outspoken about that as everything else? Somehow I doubt it. The PC brigade would destroy him within minutes. Ireland's manager, Trappatoni, to his credit has just dropped players from his squad for not turning up to games one of whom was for that very reason - his wife giving birth.
As a devout atheist I still respect that some people, no matter their profession, want to follow religious rituals such as Taarabt and other muslims with Ramadan and Avram Grant with what was presumably Yom Kippur. We knew it when we bought him. It's not a case of being PC. Why do you insist on calling him Colin to the point that you write it in capitals? He's our manager and the best one we've had in a long, long time.
Adel went to the Doctors, he's got a bit of bacon stuck to his hair, a plum tomato smeared on his chin, a fried egg sticking out of his ear, a bit of toast in the corner of his eye.......... Adel: "I'm not feeling to good Doc" Doc: "I'm not surprised. You're not eating properly"
That's commendable but your employer shouldn't have to indulge you. Where do you draw the line then? If I said I was a Druid or something and had to worship the Sun certain days throughout the year, should I be given a slap on the back and told "don't worry about the vital game at the weekend, enjoy your time off"? (I call him COLIN because I've called him COLIN for the last ten years but if capital letters offend you Watford_R, I'll call him "Colin" henceforth)
