Hiya, new member here , incensed with Mr.Quinn's comments regarding his possible resignation because of fans viewing illegal games on TV . I being a previous season ticket holder, cannot now afford to go to ANY home games. I love the club and have been going to matches since 1969 ! - a lot of you will be in the same position. I cant even afford to go to the pub to watch "dodgy tv " . How dare he accuse us Sunderland fans, especially all of us in this position, of "robbing" my club ! Sunderland AFC should be bigger than any man - if he wants to go, time he did . Make tickets cheaper or go ! x
if you have been going since 1969 then you should know that the club has never been in a better position. but i suspect you have not and are just a pathetic no-mates wum
Not disputin we are in a good position. Best ive ever known, but Quinn is out of touch. I CANT AFFORD TO GO ANY MORE. Dont call me a wum, monkey head. I'm probably not the only one who is skint and upset at Quinn's outpouring. Bang out of order. Tell me, monkey head. Did you see Dick Malone's first game? I did. Did you see John Hughes' only game? I did. Sick of sanctimonious fools like you accusing true fans of being wums
True fan or not, you obviously havn't listened to what Quinn has been saying...Quinn was directing his anger at the fans who can afford to go but are choosing to spend theair cash watching games in pubs, not those who are skint...
But that doesn't make it right! First game. 1/6, children's enclosure.....After thet, 2/6, then 50p, then 75p, then a pound, then whatever (over the years).... Now it's ã20 plus every game FOR ONE!! You wa nt a full ground? So do I. We have all heard the sound SAFC supporters generate. I think he is totally out of touch with fans in implying we would rather watch from a pub! He is so wrong! I would love to be there. Had I been there yesterday we would have won! (LOL) Truly tho, upset to think he is out of touch like that - simply cos he has'nt been up til now. x
if you listened to what quinn said and not read it in some cheap rag, he was not having a go at people who could not afford to go, he was moaning about those who where going to the pub and spendin a fortune on booze. i can't remember dicks first game but i almost certainly watched it if it was at home as i've been going since 66/67
But Quinn said that he understood those who couldn't afford to go to the match, it was just people who went to the pubs, watched the match illegally and spent more than a match ticket on booze. I think he has a point, but I sympathise with you, it's rubbish hardly ever being able to go to the SoL.
Monkey head, All i'm saying is if Quinn is twisting about fans not turning, up, then he should lower the prices! Simple supply and demand as I see it. I thought he had the pulse - the heart of us. Apparently not. I remember Cloughy having a pop at Forest fans when they were in Europe and not turning up. I just expected more understanding from Quinn. PLUS it cant be all paper clap-trap. He hasn't denied it has he? I think all teams are feeling the recession. Drop the turnstile prices, fill the ground, win games. x
Jerseymackem, I have talked to and heard from many supporters up here like me who would love to still be going. It all seems a bit "let them eat cake" to me. Many people spend a tenner in the pub on a couple of pints to watch a match. Not big money, not more than the excessive entry fee now. We should be the people's club - times are hard, drop the prices. Let them all come. 48k every home game! What is so wrong with that? x
look mate i'm not going to fall out with anyone but if you want a succesful club, someone has to pay for it. there has been times in the past when i couldn't afford to go but i didn't moan about ticket prices. if quinn knew that we would fill the stadium every week he might be able to cut prices, but theres no guarantee that if he cut ticket prices that people might still prefer to sit in the pub and watch.
All i know is we would go! There's nowt better than the feelin of goin to a game! Mr Quinn; we are the best fans in the world. Let us come to the party!
If we want to compete at the highest level then we have to match the wages that other clubs are paying, and that needs to be paid for...As Premiership clubs go, our prices are not too bad...
To ne honest, if I was Quinn and read the OP i would be on the next plane home thinking why do I bother just my opinion.
Income is more than ticket sales now, We should all know that, It is a small percentage compared to TV, sponsorship, etc, I thought we all knew that now, Its all futures and expectations! Ticket income is nice but isn't the be all and end all. Play attractive football, hear a big crowd, thats what sky wants! More TV revenue means bigger wages for better players. get the crowds in, so lower prices. Why do you think they have the toon on TV so much - 50k screaming into the soundaround. Get the population in, Get the sound up, get the revenue, get the success.
I agree with you on some points mate, but it's a vicious circle. Ticket prices are too high, so nobody goes, so we lose even more money, so players start to leave, next thing you know, we've gone bust. For a club vying for a European spot, ticket prices are fairly reasonable. The club is also a business, so we can't just make games free entry!
