Hess has left us to become assistant manager at Leyton Orient. Bit of a shock but he gets to work with Ian Hendon again who was number 2 for us when Hess was last in charge. I think Steve Lovell would be a good fit for the number 2. Another shout could be Michael Flynn being brought to the club as either number 2 or as a player coach as he's worked with Justin previous and already knows us well. Thoughts?

Either or really, I'd like Lovell to have the opportunity, he had no qualms about speaking the truth and knows the club. Or bring in an ex spurs team mate who can attract more players ;)

I think this is the right decision for both Hess and the club. I think Hess has stagnated at the club and was destined to stay as someone's no. 2 ad infinitum. Moving on to another club shows at least some ambition as it would be easy to stay somewhere where your are idolised and never have to push yourself

I thought everything was going too well pre-season, disappointed but happy for Hess if it is what he really wants, without push, shove or persuasion.

    All the best AH.

It is a shame in that he is such a good spot of talent but at the same time, it shows that he is ambitious to work at other clubs. Obviously the fact he has a job for a life here is reassuring for him, but for a career perspective it's certainly better for him to work for other clubs and with other coaches.
