Given what we already have and ignoring new arrivals, now we've got Cornelius as a powerful front runner, can anyone see us not playing a conventional 4-4-2 this season? With Fraizer and/or Nicky both providing the box poacher role, it seems a nailed on formation. Going 4-5-1 would seem to be a waste of talent with two of those three sitting it out - or is that too simple?
i think we'll go 4-5-1 away from home, possibly home too. west ham away is our first game and i think we'll go into it to avoid defeat...... cornelius up front probably, we have options like you say with campbell and maynard and i hope we go 4-4-2 and try and beat the weaker teams.......
We will not play 442 very often We will need 3 central midfielders. It will more often than not be 433 or 451. Attempt many 442s and we are in trouble in my opinion.
I think a few of our players will benefit from playing in the prem as opposed to the hard battling championship, Whitts comes to mind as one of those. It never looked pretty last season, but we got results, I suspect a packed midfield will be the norm in this coming season but all depends who we can get in that might change that.
MM has always played quite a fluid system with players moving around the park. I think a 451 / 433 will be played with Maynard or Frazier playing a wider role coming in field as attacks develop on the opposite flank from them, a la Mason. I don't think it will be a little man off a big man as such, but Cornelius will create the ball for one of those two and Bellars to benefit from. Either that or a 4231 with Frazier or Maynard the centre player in the 3.
What mm must do is do his homework thoroughly on who you are going to play. we learned that 4-5-1 was great against some teams but not others and you have to vary the formation and be prepared to drop players that don't fit the playing style...Its very hard in the first season to get right but if you do it gives you a better chance of staying up...

There's no danger of that happening , you haven't sufficient players with the technical ability to play that system .
We'll go 451. We need to take more control of games and playing 442 makes it harder. We could try 4411 but the 2 CM's will need to be on their game.
