I thought their behaviour today was very threatening, unfriendly and actually just downright disrespectful. At the end of the match they lined the pitch against men women and kids that were not making any attempt to get on the pitch, their posture was extremely threatening - funny since it was the Barnsley fans that actually invaded the pitch en-masse. After the match they had a cordon presumably to stop fans mingling, they sent us on a detour to get to our car that took us right through the Barnsley fans coming out through streets with no police control whatsoever and once we got through that we ended up 6 feet the other side of their stupid cordon. Plus 'directing' the traffic after the game was a complete shambles.

I have to say that together with the debacle with WYP the other week I have lost all respect for the police :steam:

Have to say pre match SYP managed the kick-off at the Polish beer tent very well. Defused a bad situation. You should've seen WYP as the 5.12pm to Leeds finally reached its destination. Draconian doesn't do it justice, the nearly turned good natured humour into a riot.

    Cops everywhere.

I looked around, and the City was filled with almost entirely middle aged men in cardigans or families.

Yet the batons were clearly visible, in fact I'm sure a few were stroking them.

    Even the women.

It's always difficult, I was one of the fans not too pleased with the actions of the police leading up to this game but I witnessed a number of situations today which reminded me why I am absolutely embarrassed to be associated with a small contingent of our fans.

The "Justice for the 96 chant" was one of the few highlights of today.

    Agreed.

I wasn't happy with the number of police, but we've got enough dickheads following us around to justify it.

I think police were actually drafted in from other areas too, asked a copper before kick off for somewhere decent to park after failing to find the car park we set off to, and he replied he had no idea as he was from hull himself. Did this match really need the huge police presence!?

In hindsight absolutely yes. There were not enough stewards and police actually in the stand keeping the order in my opinion. There was fans fighting with each other and all sorts of nonsense.

What was it like in the Chicago Rock Cafe?
The Police presence outside was totally OTT.
Heavy visible presence, with horses, plus hidden presence (in large numbers hiding around the corner).

That seemed to be where the escorted procession started.

Completely over the top bubble match by SYOB inside and outside the ground, what a waste of money!

I did actually have to walk through a group of middle aged men who really should know better on the way to the Interchange at full time.

Verbals flying. They wanted to kick off, but cops everywhere.

I just wanted to get by.

    Stupid old men.

Do you even know what a bubble match is?

    Today wasn't one.

    Of course it did.

Many of them need new conservatories, and to pay for that second foreign holiday.

Plus some of them may have to find legal fees to defend themselves in the Hillsborough fall out.

I was in there around 1 until 1.45 and left before they got escorted. There wasn't any trouble but there were about 100 Fans in there that were absolutely plastered throwing beer everywhere and certainly a potential problem for the police. I can't comment on what happened after and as I said they didn't really do anything too bad whilst I was there but I could see how there was certainly a potential issue.

Couldn't disagree more with the OP, the officers we encountered were polite and helpful.

They were there for our protection as much as anything at the end of the game, not threatening at all. They acted as a deterrent to those idiots that we're thinking of going onto the pitch and reassurance to the families who wanted to remain in the stand.

Shame some of the knuckle draggers who associated themselves with our club justified the over policing by acting like complete ****s.

Only knuckle draggers I saw were the Danny dyer wannabes who ran to the front at the end to try start a fight with the cops and abuse our own bloody players.

What else kicked off then? Fighting amongst our own fans? Trouble in the stand? Did anyone punch a police horse?

Yes, we have loads of dickheads. That is why we had a whole 7 people arrested at away games all last season and 7 at home. Whilst there were 5 arrests at the FC v KR game alone and flares going off and a bottle thrown on the pitch. No one in court or banned yet and no heavy police presence at rugby games "just in case". The only conclusion for this disparity in treatment of games must be because the police can't screw a fortune out of the rugby clubs.
A good job some of these people on here weren't around in the seventies, they wouldn't have dared go out of their front door. A football match now is a pretty peaceful affair and doesn't need coppers taking out their frustrations on people who aren't going to cause any trouble by pushing them around and treating them as potential terrorists. Although they would probably treat terrorists, especially ones of a certain religion, with more respect.

The policing today was beyond ridiculous.

    Pitch side police horses? Seriously?

    ****ing ridiculous.

Making people walk half a mile, just to get back to the other side of a fence they were three feet away from twenty minutes earlier is utterly ridiculous.
