Sylvain Wiltord retires

    Aged 38, Sylvain Wiltord has retired from Nantes, ending a brilliant career both at club and International level. He scored 26 in 92 for France and was prolific for his clubs. He averaged 15 goals a season for us, even being behind Henry and Bergkamp. He was understandably somewhat in the shadow of those two at Arsenal, but remained a prolific scorer.

    His goal to win the league at Old Trafford was the stand out moment, but he was a proper grafter and a really good player who gave his best years to Arsenal <ok>

    They would often interchange, sometimes with Wiltord playing futher forward. A truly great team that <ok>

    mind you comparing that alternative set to the Bergkamp era does bring tears to the eyes.
