Swindon Town Vs View attachment 25655 Gillingham Match Day Thread 24th August 2013 3PM- County Ground This is the First Match Day Thread of Gillinghamâs Sky Bet League One 2013-2014 Season. This is the place to post all of your Team Predictions as well as Chat before and during the match. This thread can also be used to post Updates on the match. You can also post your Views on the match after the game and discuss the performance with others. I may write my own report if I have been to the game and I will give my overall opinion on the result and what I thought of the individual performances of each player. Team News Gillingham should only have one player missing which is Matt Fish who is likely to miss the rest of the season. Gillingham may also have a new player as Martin Allen confirmed on Thursday during the Press conference that he is in talks with an unnamed Championship player who is likely to join in time to play against Swindon Town. Swindon Town should have a fully fit squad for the game against Gillingham. Past meetings Gillingham don't have the greatest record of late against Swindon Town as they have won 28, drew 26 and lost 33 of the meetings with Swindon, however it is the away record which is not good as Gillingham have not won away against Swindon Town for a long time as you have to go back to 1982 for a Gillingham away victory against Swindon Town so this will be a hard game for the Gills. Gillingham won their last meeting with Swindon and I believe we can win this one as they are not at their strongest and I believe that this is really where our season is about to start. 20 Mar 1982 Swindon Town v Gillingham W 0-1 League Division Three 27 Dec 1986 Gillingham v Swindon Town L 1-3 League Division Three 04 May 1987 Swindon Town v Gillingham D 1-1 League Division Three 14 Jan 2006 Gillingham v Swindon Town W 3-0 League One 14 Feb 2006 Swindon Town v Gillingham L 1-0 League One 06 Oct 2007 Swindon Town v Gillingham L 5-0 League One 26 Apr 2008 Gillingham v Swindon Town D 1-1 League One 08 Aug 2009 Gillingham v Swindon Town W 5-0 League One 16 Jan 2010 Swindon Town v Gillingham L 3-1 League One 25 Oct 2011 Swindon Town v Gillingham L 2-0 League Two 21 Apr 2012 Gillingham v Swindon Town W 3-1 League Two The Current league table As of 23.08.13 Gillingham sit 21st with 1 point whereas Swindon Town sit 17th with 3 points. My View I think that this may not be an easy game however this is a game that I believe that we are good enough to win as there is not too much between us two teams and in fact I believe we are better team as Swindon have lost a lot of good players which means that they are not as strong anymore, however I believe that they have done well in the loan market to get players from Tottenham to make sure that they still have some quality and I believe that these players may be hard to play against however I think that they we are good enough to win and we will get our first away win against Swindon Town in 31 years. The Score and Scorers Both my heart and head says that we will win this game so however I am not 100% on what the score will be but I will go with a 0-2 win with Kedwell and McDonald getting the goals for the Gills.
Linganzi has a hamstring injury so he is likely to miss out as well so that means that we are one more short for this game. I would go with this team. Nelson Harriman Legge Barrett Martin Gregory Whelpdale Lee Weston Kedwell McDonald
