Preston North End v Swindon Town

This will be a slightly different game to last nights demolition of a poor Palace side, the visitors having beaten Stoke at the Brittania will be full of confidence and we be fully prepared by the enigmatic Di Canio.
Their hero last night was ex Shrewsbury forward James Collins and scored a hat trick and received a boot up the arse from his boss after scoring one of the goals.
They have purchased well this summer, Gary Roberts from Huddersfield as well as Collins.
Ex North Enders Alan McCormack now playing at centre back also Jay McEveley who enjoyed a less than successful loan period with us are in the Swindon squad.
Saw them at the end of last season playing Morecambe, they were not overly impressive, but that was last season and this year fully expect them to be challenging again.
Will we have anyone in before the transfer window somehow doubt it.
Injury wise Keane, Byrom, Moushino and Sodje could be doubtful, as the window will be shut will Hume, Morgan or Daley be in the squad, we'll soon find out.
Remember as it's Preston guild there is a circus on Moor Park, parking will be limited and there could also be plenty of entertainment on the touchline on Sunday as Westley and Di Canio go head to head

This will be a good test for the 'developing' NE team & it should be a good game to watch. Watching the managers should be entertaining as well. Mr. Di Canio gracing the Deepdale pitch!
There are some moans that NE have not made any special effort to organize a special 'Guild Match' & instead have chosen a league game as a Guild event. I suppose the profit margins very not large enough.
On Monday, I may stroll down to Underhill to watch Arsenal u21s. No charge! The reserves also play at Underhill. Mr. Wenger will be there unless the first team are playing for Sky that night. Perhaps PR would like to take me on as a scout!
I also doubt that NE will take on any new players. But the three on the transfer list do not seem to be going anywhere.

The Morecambe game was our worst perfprmace of the seaspn last year even though we still won 1-0 but with 7 additions this summer and the way we play if we play as we did last week against MK DONS WHO HAD ONE SHOT ALL GAME I HOPE WE WILL GIVE YOU A GOOD GAME. WE PLAY THE RIGHT WAY ON THE FLOOR AND PLAY AT HIGH INTENSITY AND WE SHOCKED STOKE HOW FIT WE WERE.

    Poacher's goal Rocky

On Tuesday night, Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio describes his team's performance at Stoke as being like Barcelona, it's possible he described today's first half performance as being like the fictional side Barnstonworth United from Michael Palin's Ripping Yarns.
The enigmatic Italian saw his side demolished 4-1 at Deepdale by a rampant Preston North End, as the home side turned in a performance which the home support in a crowd of 10300 hadn't seen for years.
North End took the lead in 5 minutes, when Beavon charged down a clearance from visitors keeper Foderingham, the ball landed at the feet of Sodje who took his aim, fired and scored. (1-0)
Almost immediately Di Canio had his substitute keeper Bedwell warming up on the touchline.
Swindon came back into the game passing the ball neatly but apart from a Collins header rarely troubled the home side.
The second goal wasn't long in coming and a fine team goal it was, the ball was passed along the penalty area to Laird who's pin point pass found Wroe ghosting in to side foot the ball past the keeper. (2-0)
Following some more haphazard defending Di Canio made a tactical change, not one most managers would have done, he substituted his keeper. To say Foderingham was less than amused was an understatement, storming past his manager he headed straight to the dressing room only stopping to violently boot an energy drinks bottle into the middle of the pitch.
Swindon tried desperately to get back into the game but just before half time they were further behind, when a corner was headed into the six yard box by Huntington and new signing Beavon bundled the ball home from close range. (3-0)
Standing ovation for the home side, would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the visitors dressing room.
Swindon started brightly in the second half with Bostock another substitute having a shot deflected onto the top of the bar, understandably North End started sluggishly and were made to pay when Da Vita cut in from the left hand side beat Keane with ease and fired past Stuckmann to reduce the arrears.
Sodje had a glorious chance to finish the game when a super left wing cross found him unmarked 10 yards out, his header missed the target by a distance, but it wasn't long until the home side further increased their lead when a corner fell to Welsh 20 yards out and his drive went through a sea of legs into the corner of the net. (4-1)
The game died as a spectacle from then but Stuckmann made a superb save to keep the score at 4-1 almost immediately after the fourth goal.
A fine performance to mark Preston's Guild year which happens every 20 years hopefully we won't have to wait that long for another performance like that.

Rocky, hard to say in one game, will suit Westley's work ethic and if he keeps scoring he will do well

bad day at the office for us as all 11 didnt turn up and Preston deserved the win and id rather get this performance out the way now as Di Canio will not let this happen again rest assured, all teams have off days like this. We are a good side but watching yesterday you wouldnt think so but he will sort it and the players and the rest of the division now will need to be aware of us as he will want to bounce back with avengence so Orient beware and revenge will be sweet when we play Preston at home.

Bilko, given the signings you made on deadline day suspect you will be there or thereabouts at the top end of the table come the end of the season
