This is what I want to see - fighting talk !!!!!!!! Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill refuses to allow League One promotion rivals Swindon Town to become a distraction. Cotterill's in-form side thrashed Notts County 4-0 at Ashton Gate on Saturday to return to the top of the table. But West rivals Swindon will leapfrog City again if they beat Coventry by two goals at the Ricoh Arena tonight. Swindon manager Mark Cooper was at Ashton Gate to watch City at the weekend but, when asked about the challenge being mounted by the Wiltshire Robins, Cotterill declared: "I'm not interested in them. I keep being asked, but I never mention other clubs and I'm not interested in what Swindon do. "It's all about us and I'm only interested in what we do. We have 51 points and 15 wins so far this season and that has put us in a really good position for the run in."
Of course he will have an ear open for tonights result, and he may even go to watch the game. But I like his style of management. A bit like SAF, who publicly always made it clear that he was only bothered with Manure, yet I bet he knew everything that was happening at all of their rivals. And it has taken a while for City fans, and some never will, to get used to the lack of injury news before matches. Keep the others guessing until the team sheet is entered one hour before kick-off.
It's all about posturing, but I like it and it's a refreshing change for us to be bullish rather than be on the back foot. Of course he'll follow the score, or at least look it up, but I like the selfish attitude and persona either way. It says we don't fear anyone, and right now we probably don't Up The City
We are only just past half way there is no point worrying about anyone else at this stage of the season!
Coventry have shown a bit of improvement over the past few weeks 1 defeat to Donny has had 3 wins ( Walsall,PVale and Colch) and 3 draws ( Walsall, Chesterfld, Fleetwood) either side, although Swindons away record is better than their home one, they seem to fare marginally less well against lower placed teams (bottom 12). I would be happy with a draw, but obviously like Coventry to win!
I hope SC watched last night. Coventry were dire but for all that I was impressed with Swindon's movement with and without the ball. However, didn't appreciate the way they fall over and feign dead at the least bit of contact. Cheats.
