Usually after an abandoned game, people can seek a refund or keep their ticket stub which will allow them to attend the re-arranged game. However.... Swindon have broken with that tradition Full story on our OS and the story is provided below. http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...swindon-town-3280410.aspx#UbIBLifYOrrsOVQp.99 The rearranged date for our EFL SkyBet League One fixture against Swindon Town is Tuesday 20th September, at The County Ground (kick off 7.45pm). Due to high policing costs for the match Swindon have taken the decision to charge home and away supporters the full price for admission. Prices are as follows (All Seats): Covered North Stand: Adults - £25.00 Seniors [65+] - £19.00 Student with NUS - £19.00 Young Adult [17-19] - £12.00 Under 17 - £8.00 Under 11 - £2.00 Wheelchair - £19.00 Ambulant Disabled - £19.00 [Carer free of charge] Stratton Bank Uncovered Stand: Adults - £19.00 Seniors [65+] - £15.00 Student with NUS - £15.00 Young Adult [17-19] - £12.00 Under 17 - £8.00 Under 11 - £2.00 Ambulant Disabled - £19.00 [Carer free of charge] The game will again be all ticket for Bristol Rovers supporters and a further announcement regarding the date they go on sale will be made in due course. .
Isn't there rules within the EFL about refunds and entry for rescheduled matches that have been abandoned? Surely Swindon can't take matters into its own hands? Just looked up EFL rules regarding rearranged "abandoned" games and this is covered under section 28 of EFL rules that state policy has to be included within customer charter of the clubs. On STFC under customer charter it does not have any detail regarding abandonments apart to say info will be posted on OS. Surely this forms a breach of EFL rules as no information is in their charter and is essence they are making it up as they go along bringing the EFL competition into disrepute.
I have seen suggestions of boycotting this game (like seamge said above) so Swindon will still have to pay the police costs even though the police have nothing to do and Swindon dont get our money. I like this idea. I have also seen suggestions to double the ticket prices for Swindon fans when they come to the Mem. However, I dont like this idea. Swindon fans are getting hit as well having to pay again like our fans. They are pissed off too. Its not their fault. Its their clubs fault. Dont think making them pay double for their home game and then pay double for the game at the Mem is fair to be honest.
Perhaps a complaint from the club to the EFL, FA and STFC is required. Time for Hamer to earn his corn for those fans who went on Saturday and have been hung out to dry (pun intended).
Of course it aint. But its good that he has made a public statement on it. Adds pressure on the Swindon owner to change his mind. Im sure their own fans are giving him a lot of stick too. I wouldnt be surprised if in the next 24 hours (if its not been done already) that either Wael or Hamer or even both get in touch with Swindon and kick them up the arse
Bristol Rovers would like to offer any supporter who attended the clubs game with Swindon Town at the County Ground free coach travel to the rearranged fixture. Darrell Clarke’s men face the Robins on Saturday 27th August with the game being abandoned in the 60th minute due to hazardous conditions. Rovers will now take on their West Country rivals on Tuesday 20th September, with both sets of supporters having to pay full price for a matchday ticket. As a gesture of good will to all of our fantastic supporters who made the trip, the club will be subsiding travel to the rearranged fixture if they can produce a ticket stub from the initial game, regardless of condition. The coaches will run from the traditional Supporters Club routes (from the Memorial Stadium & the Kingsway) with further details available shortly. Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to thank all the Gasheads for their incredible support so far this season. http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...swindon-town-3283406.aspx#cEo4FZb1brYFziPH.99
http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/news...statement-bristol-rovers-tickets-3284041.aspx Swindon Chairman, Lee Power has released the following statement: “While we understand supporters’ frustration regarding ticket arrangements for the Bristol Rovers replay, what happened on Saturday afternoon was an act of God and beyond the club’s control. I must stress that the club still has a number of costs to meet on a matchday. These costs have increased dramatically due to the fact that this is a derby match. We work closely with the police and the local authorities to make sure that players and supporters enjoy matches at the County Ground in a safe environment and, on this occasion, the costs to ensure this are higher than usual – a figure which has risen even further because the replay will be played in midweek. If we could reduce these costs then naturally, these savings would be passed down to the supporters. However, in this situation, this is not the case. The football club is run on a model of self-sustainability. When additional costs arise, extra revenue needs to be generated to meet those financial demands. The club have been in regular dialogue with the police and the authorities to try and reduce the costs incurred in staging this re-arranged fixture however, no mutual agreement has been reached. We understand their difficulty in trying to reduce costs as they require the assistance of officers from other counties to police this game. Our Season Ticket holders support the team week in, week out and make up more than half of our attendance figure on a matchday so we have decided to reward their loyalty with free entry to the replay. It is unfortunate that a number of our own supporters as well as those who made the trip from Bristol Rovers have been affected. We are following national supporters' groups in confirming - as was quoted in the media yesterday - that clubs do not usually offer any form of refund when the game is abandoned after half-time and not before. I would like to pay tribute to our groundstaff who do a great job in making our pitch one of the finest in the league. After spending a significant amount of money on improving the pitch this summer there was nothing that they could have done to prevent the heavy rain from causing Saturday’s abandonment.” The club will not be making any further comment on this matter. I can confirm there are a lot of angry Swindon supporters right now due to the paragraph I put up in red. They aint happy about not being classed as loyal because they havent bought a season ticket. They are fuming.
Just saw this on sky sports news tonight. I think it's funny because it's you lot. But joking aside I think it's a twattish thing to do, and perhaps a boycott might stop these clubs doing things like this.
Yeah, give it the full Geoffrey people, it is the only way in which these club officials will learn, there's plenty more games to watch after this one.
I think it stinks, makes you want to dislike Swindle even more. It seems very unprofessional and no compromise made except the ST st holders. Would be interesting to see a break down of the attendance and see how many Swindon fans paid compared to rovers, if you added these two together and boycott the replay then mr Power will only have his 'non paying' season ticket holders on the night shooting himself in the foot.
I could be wrong with the figure but on BBC PointsWest news 2 or 3 days ago, they said they contacted the police who said the police bill was only £14k I swear they said that but I could have miss-heard it.
The Swindon owner is an idiot - this is a disgrace Well done to Rovers for at least offering free coach travel Shame there is no legal way for those who went to get a 33% refund for not seeing a whole game? Perhaps the EFL need to set some guidelines for refunds when a match gets abandoned?
This Swindon situation is a complete joke. There are some new developements!!!! Here is a minder of what has already happened: Swindon ARE charging fans full price for this re-arranged game saying they have to do this to cover the huge police bill that they will get for policing this game. For the 1st game they gave us 2800 tickets for the away end. You could sit in the stand for £25 or stand behind the goal for £19. Here is the latest: For the re-arranged game Swindon have only allocated 914 tickets for the away end and these are ALL for the stand only as the whole stand behind the goal will be closed off. This means any gashead who went to the 1st game and paid £19 to go behind the goal, not only do you have to pay for the re-arranged game as Swindon are scabs, but they are now making you pay extra as they are forcing you into the more expensive part of the away end costing £25. What a bunch of twats.
Flippin Eck, that is just scandalous, I cannot imagine any Rovers fan in sound mind even contemplating going to this fixture.
There has been times where we have known the opposition have a small following that will turn up to the Mem. We then housed them into the expensive section of the away end which is the South stand instead of the cheaper section which is the away terrace. But we didnt charge them for South stand. Instead we charged them the terrace priced which is the cheaper price. Swindon wont even be doing this. They are just forcing you into the expensive section, making you pay full whack for it too.
