I am an adult, I really don't mind people swearing, in all manner of scenarios, I swear a lot myself, but I really don't feel the need for the amount of swearing and abuse to one another and general real nastiness to our fellow football fans.
This forum is a mirror image of some of the youth of today, in my time as a kid I would never dream of swearing at adults, now as an adult you don't mind kids swearing at you just as long as they don't stab you.
There's lots of cyberspace hardmen on this forum isn't there, is there really any need for it?
Time I started checking out other more civilised forums I think, shame as I will miss some of you on here, I really wish 606 wasn't shutting down.

I sort of know what you mean bizarre but its that hard balance. My strange sence of humour will probably offend some, some of the abuse is not for me and I would like more football debate, so what do we do?

My only suggestion is we pick and choose what we read, the topics we comment on, use the swear filter and do our own self modereating. We start more threads because its us, the posters who decide on the tone in the main.

606 is going, not our fault but it is so we all have choices.I have looked at other forums, still comment on SMB but this forum, with all its faults give me the most pleasure so its now home.

The fault of 606 was that people were shackled into voicing a true opinion. The sacred language is heard by all in day to day existence and at a football ground it is 100% more. As a sober dude my etiquette is very different from match days or from having a beer or two. It's life mate..

It is life today, I agree. But having travelled extensively around the world you very rarely see people act like the British, other countries have a lot more decorum and a certain politeness, not all countries and I'm sure there are far worse examples in other countries. Manners cost nothing.
    It's very sad.
Having watched the wedding today (forced on by the wife) it was like a throwback to the good old days where people were happy and joyous with each other.
I'm going to shut up now as I'm starting to sound like my dad.

  7. Thing is though mate that todays events would have passed over so many heads. The people up here in the North have no identity what so ever with the flummery that surrounds the royal family. It's a southern thing in my eyes and to be honest I like it that way and would like to keep it that way. We have our own heroes in the North East like the people who fought the wars to keep the southern identity and the prince's and princess's in there life. Read a book called 'A Man Called Intrepid' and maybe your opinion will change. Have a great night & weekend..
