Transfer gossip: Austin speculation continues and QPR are linked with Bamford
    By West London Sport 03/01/2016
A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs as the January window begins….
Speculation continues over the future of Charlie Austin, with Swansea City the latest club to be linked with the QPR striker.
The Sunday People declare that Swansea will move for Austin and Chelsea’s Patrick Bamford, with Bafetimbi Gomis and Jonjo Shelvey tipped to leave the Welsh club.
City, currently without a manager, are said to have decided to target deals to buy Austin and sign Bamford on loan.
Newcastle and Southampton are two of the clubs that were consistently linked with Austin last year.
They have now ‘joined the chase’ to sign him, according to the Sunday Mirror, which reckons Crystal Palace are the favourites to sign him.

Austin is set to stay at QPR until the summer
Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand would refuse to sell for less than £12.5m, the newspaper claims.
Austin has made it clear he intends to see out the remainder of his contract at Loftus Road, which expires in the summer.
QPR want to sign Bamford on loan for the second half of the season, according to the Sun on Sunday.
Former Blues star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, without a win in his six matches as R’s boss, is hoping to use his Chelsea contacts in order to land the 22-year-old, it is claimed.
The same newspaper also reports that Norwich will compete with Aston Villa for the signing of Chelsea striker Loic Remy.
And the Italian media continue to suggest that Juventus are interested in Fulham forward Moussa Dembele

Given the utter garbage reported last transfer window we can ignore all of these stories until a deal is either done or not. Still I suppose Swansea were probably the only team left not linked with Charlie.

Who would pay £12.5m for 18 games (in the unlikely event that he plays all the remaining League games in the season), for someone you'd get for nothing in the summer? Only the truly desperate and likely doomed, which he won't go to anyway.

That's the point. Charlie's set his sights higher than the Swansea's of this world

If I was in Charlie's shoes I would see my contract out and then look to see what is available. However my blue and white hooped bias would like to see him sold to free up money for other players rather than have him leave on a free.

I personally think there is as much a chance of Sir Alex coming out of his retirement to try and fix Man U.

Alex would need Austin to replace the outgoing Rooney who has accepted a lucrative contract in the USA.

Yes Rooney will play for newly formed Texas shot gun massacre yellowsox FC for $50 million a year until he explodes.

I'm sure you will be able to read this exclusively in the Sun tomorrow morning.

He probably won't go in this window and he definitely won't go to Swansea, who are in a relegation scrap!

Yes, hopefully the two factors that make him stay is teams sniffing around who are in the danger zone. The other one is lots of them way well be up north:emoticon-0148-yes:<laugh>

The only teams prepared to pay any decent money are those deep in a relegation scrap & can't see him opting for any of those to end playing in the Champ again, even then would only have thought any fee would be £6-8m max.

Of the others could see Southampton, Leicester, Crystal Place, West Ham being decent options for him but are any prepared to fork out in Jan or wait until the summer.

Pretty sure his advisers would be saying wait as can probably negotiate bigger salary/bonuses etc.

All of which will probably mean we need to replace a £10-15m striker between now & the summer with peanuts which could prove difficult.

The fact is Charlie holds all the Aces. He has stated on several occasions that he's not going anywhere until his contract runs out - why would he? He can command a big signing on fee as a free agent. Good luck to him I say.

He's going to be injured until Feb 3rd them make a come back to fitness score another 10 goals and disappear to the premier league most likely with Palace on good money and a large signing on fee

    This!

If Palace do put in a bid I would not be surprised to see him go. It's not a northern team flirting with the drop and again not opp north...

ACCORDING TO THIS, PALACE ARE NOW FAVOURITES TO SIGN QPR’S AUSTIN

Crystal Palace are apparently leading the race to sign QPR striker Charlie Austin in the January transfer window, despite a host of other clubs being interested in him.

This piece in The Mirror definitively names Palace as favourites to secure Austin’s signature within the next month, regardless of the interest in him from elsewhere.

The QPR fan favourite had been expected to run his contract down completely and leave the Hoops without a transfer fee in the summer, but with the West Londoners desperate to make some money out of his departure, we may well see Pardew and Parish push for Austin himself to commit to a move in the coming days.

Unfortunately for the Loftus Road outfit, the ball is firmly in Austin’s court as things stand, leaving them somewhat helpless to force through a move, despite their own reasons for wanting to.

Having seen their own form falter of late, the dangling prospect of a sizeable fee for the currently injured frontman will be looking more and more appealing with each passing week, not that Austin will be swayed on the matter to suit the desires of his current paymasters.

We can expect the transfer rumour mill to kick into overdrive in the coming days, with the Charlie Austin saga just one of a number of stories linked to our plans for the coming weeks. We’ll do our best to keep you fully up to date.

Pretty much been said, Charlie is very unlikely to sign for all the teams desperate to sign him being that they are in a relegation battle, it seems likely that he will go for nothing in the summer, which is fair enough, however it might be that the likes of Palace want to get the jump on other teams and IF Charlie would go I expect they would prefer to spend 8-10 mill (as a guess, no idea what the club would accept) rather than have a Chelsea, Spurs etc.. come in for him in the summer and loose out on the player.

Charlie Austin should sign for Crystal Palace, insists former QPR and Eagles manager Neil Warnock

Neil Warnock has told in-demand Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin to sign for their London rivals Crystal Palace.
Austin, 26, opted to stay with QPR in the summer despite strong interest in him after he scored 18 goals in his debut Premier League season.
But with the club languishing down in 16th place in the Championship and his contract expiring in the summer, QPR could look to cash in this month.

Charlie Austin reacts to a missed opportunity playing for QPR against Brighton last month
Warnock managed Austin as recently as last month while in temporary charge at QPR - his second spell at the club.
And the 67-year-old, who has also had two spells in the Palace hotseat, told talkSPORT: 'I have said to him [Austin] about Palace.

'I love Crystal Palace and I love QPR and I have said to him: "for me Charlie, the way you play, you will get opportunities at Palace".
'He would score goals. I know Palace are better away from home where they break quickly, and as they showed [against Chelsea], without Yannick Bolasie they need another striker definitely. He would fit the bill.

'Charlie will score goals at any level like he proved in the Premier League last year.'

Despite an injury-hit campaign Austin has continued his goalscoring form in the Championship, netting 10 goals in 16 games.
Premier League strugglers Newcastle United are also interested in Austin, who was prolific for Burnley, Swindon and in non-league before moving to Loftus Road in 2013.

    "Swansea will move for Austin"

Somewhere nearer Cardiff or Bristol and they're in with a chance.
