Swansea City have made an audacious bid to sign England defenders Steph Houghton and Lucy Bronze. Both players were outstanding in England's 3-0 defeat of Norway in tonight's World Cup quarter-final in Le Havre. Houghton made several last-ditch tackles and cleared off the line while Bronze scored with a 20-yard pile-driver from outside the box. New Swansea boss Steve Cooper said "These girls are terrific and miles better than what we currently have. I have told the American owners to sign them both, whatever the cost." England will play France or USA in the semi-final. England have now reached World Cup semi-finals in successive years. Last summer the England Men's team triumphantly marched to the semi-finals in Russia where they were desperately unlucky to lose to Croatia. Steve Cooper added, "England are undoubtedly the dominant force in world football at present. By a country mile."
Quite enjoy watching the odd WWC game. USA would appear to be favourites. The standard is quite high apart from some stray passes that you don't see much in the men's game. The Cameroon team didn't take kindly to VAR decisions. They looked like they would walk off the pitch at one point.
I have and still enjoying the women's WC and the standard they play at Which is by no means anywhere near mens (boys) academy level but enjoyable all the same. England in my view have produced the better football but they face the formidable USA in the semi's on Tuesday and i think whoever wins that will win the WC...
