On Saturday my son is playing in the Swansea Under 15's final at RTB, which is run by the Swansea Senior league. What a ****ing shambles it has turned out to be.

We had been told that kick off would be at 12noon, for which we had arranged for the boys to have breakfast together and be bussed to the ground.

The league decided last night to have a meeting and change everything. Kick off is now at 11 am. They have now decided to charge an entry fee for both adults and children. We have been told that there is a limit on the number of players and coaches that are to be given passes, we have also been told that the boys will not be allowed back in to the changing rooms at either half time or at the end of the game having to leave bags with parents or by the side of the pitch.

This was supposed to be a big day for both teams, but either The Senior League or the Swans have put so much restrictions on the day that it is taking the shine off what would and should be a great experience for the boys. Gone are the days of The Swans being a club for the community.

I thought in this day and age we were supposed to encourage people to play football. It seems not.

To be honest I would have preferred the game to be played at St Helens, where the teams are welcomed and not made to feel like they are not wanted at a venue.

Sorry for posting here but just wanted to rant to someone.

No surprise to me, and I would say it's the Swanea league more than the club, they have always been an inept bunch of amateurs. Sorry to hear this Trunds, sounds like a bloody disgrace, cannot believe they are being kept out of the changing rooms..............<ok>

Sorry to hear the negatives but a couple of points , you mention the league held a meeting to change the KO time ,not the Club ? , I know that all Senior Finals whether held down the Vetch then latterly either down Sketty Lane or St Helens the league had charged for admission , theres always been a restriction on the amount of Club officials who were allowed in the dug out / technical area so to prevent a side show and to maintain some control .The points you raise seem to me more about how the Senior league operates rather than the Swans .I can't comment about not being allowed back into the changing rooms but when the West Wales cup finals played at the Liberty then the Club does allow full access before at half time and at the end of the match with the same stipulations regarding the amount of coaches etc as what you've described .
St Helens pitch is much improved but is no comparison to Landore so with that in mind I hope your boy enjoys the day and comes away with great memories

That is fair enough but they have limited it to 2 when we have 3 involved through out the season with the boys. It just feels like we are not wanted there and it has taken the shine off it. God forbid one of the boys take a divot out of the pitch in a tackle. Game abandon.

I am sure they will enjoy every minute of it, especially if they get the right result. But it has taken a little bit of the shine off it.

It was the same when i played for bonymaen in various finals at both the morfa (showing my age now) and the vetch that they would charge admission and a limit on coaches etc and that was the senior league and not the club. As mentioned earlier hope they enjoy the day and get the right result,

It was a good day, we won 4-0 Sandfields that is and should have scored a lot more. It was as if we were going in to fort Knox. The one thing I will say is the league officials were like mini Hitlers and very full of their own self importance. But a good day with a good result.
