Saints fan in peace. I'm coming up for the Swansea game this weekend, I've been wanting to come to the Cottage for a few years so I'm really looking forward to it. Just wondering where the best place for food is? What's the stadium grub like? Cheers
Don't bother with the food inside the ground. If you're coming from Putney Bridge tube into Bishop's Park there's a cafe opposite the church which sets up a burger stall before the matches. The burgers are top notch, and the cafe helps ex-service personnel adjust to life outside of the forces so it's a good cause to boot! Enjoy your visit to the Cottage, although not the result, I hope!
Steady on Fulhamish - we don't know who KingslandKate is supporting! She's a southampton fan, not Swansea.
Yeah, although I'm a Saints fan, I'll be in the home end supporting Fulham. Had a soft spot for them since Chris Coleman was there many moons ago and ever since Chris Baird made the moved, I always keep a look out for your results. Cheers for the info Fulhamish, that's a great cause, especially as I'll be going with my Dad who's ex-army.
Ah - sorry KingslandKate. I may not be able to tell the difference between someone from Southampton and someone from Swansea, but I know a good burger when I see one! Enjoy the game and the result then!
Come early and go the Brazilian steakhouse not far from the bridge - just remember to pace yourself with the meat!
The Burger stall by the Church in Bishops park is excellent and, as previously advised, helps train ex-servicemen when they come out of the forces in a new trade. I call it the lucky burger stand as whenever I have a burger there we always seem to win. "Fully loaded" is the best - proper Burger, cheese, onions and bacon - £5. Bit pricey but it's for charity and is very filling. I went to the Brazilian steakhouse after the Wolves game. I recommend this also but as you say, pace yourself and need to be really hungry.
Enjoy the game and the result then! YES enjoy the swans total football master display and watch us win 2-1.....
Ah, the first wum we've had in ages. FWIW I like watching your team, it'll be good to see you stay up in the place of one of the dross teams at the bottom of the table.
yep. all the best on Saturday Superswan. I'm looking forward to witnessing Swansea's total football. Enjoy the Cottage atmosphere. Is it your first time? And Kingslandkate, don't go in the beauty parlour next door to the steakhouse and ask for a Brazilian as you'll get something completely different!
Mate of mine is a Fulham season ticket holder. Yes we've had some banter on this one. Seem to recall she was a little subdued last time. Think you've improved as the season has gone on. Pogrebnyak looks the real deal to be fair But our away record is improving and the Wiliams /Caulker CB partnership is getting admirers from elsewhere. Bloody hell, they even made Garth's Team of The Week. Probably won't be much in it and I'd take a draw.
Was anyone else at the Cottage in 1995 when - against all odds - Fulham (then in the old third division) beat Swansea (division 2) 7-0? For lovers of trivia out there, I think it remains the biggest win in the FA cup over a team from a higher division. Probably the finest moment of Ian Branfoot's otherwise lamentable period as manager, with a young Paul Brooker tearing the visitors' defence to shreds every time he got the ball. How things change!
KingslandKate - Chris Coleman is a Swansea Jack, so you should have divided loyalties tomorrow!! Will be a tough match for the Swans so I would take a point now
Our 29th game of the season & this will be the first game I won't have knots in my stomach . Things look pretty stable with the team so win lose or draw , I'm going to be relaxed . Always liked Fulham , especially back when Van de Saar played defense for you , along with his goalkeeper duties at the same time .
No pressure on us so hopefully that will reflect in our performance today.I think it will be a tough game to call , after last Sunday the lads will be full of confidence but we're away to a side who are no slouches and will want revenge , Yes it was 7 - 0. . (can't see that being repeated today)
Both teams seem to be evenly matched So I'm hopeful for an open game and it could be that which ever defense comes out on top will win. Our problem is still the right back slot, even with Dyer out suspended. Vorm has been outstanding this season so lets hope he doesn't have another good game against us.
As mid-table clashes go, I'm really looking forward to this one. Two sides who want to get the ball down and play. They might end up cancelling each other out, but hopefully we'll see some good football. And, with Wigan v Baggies the only other game in the Prem today might even be first on MOTD for once!
