Revealed: Why Swansea fans are the hardest to please in the Premier League

FourFourTwo and Forza Football have surveyed 200,000 fans of Premier League clubs to gauge their confidence in their team's manager, players and chairman/owner. Here, Nick Harper picks through the findings to see how Swansea City fans' mood has changed over the season...

On account of his lack of managerial experience, and possibly because of his hair, rookie manager Garry ‘Monks’ Monk’s confidence levels were understandably low as we approached the new season: 57% low to be exact, with 71% confidence in his squad. Having beaten Manchester United away in the opening game of the season, those figures improved – 60% confidence in the manager, 72% in the squad – hardly a great leap, but clearly Swans fans identified how bad United had become. Or maybe they’re just really very hard to impress.

Fast-forward to right now and confidence in Monk sits at 73%, while that of his squad is 67%. And this for a team sitting fifth in the table. You’d hate to see the numbers if they slide any lower.

True Musty, looking forward to the Man City game, should prove interesting bench mark for us, though I'm not expecting a win, but Citeh are on a poor run of form and will want to turn that around against us, I'm sure Monk will be up for this challenge as will our boys.

It will be very interesting if we manage to score first - their confidence isn't sky high at present, so going behind could really unsettle them. <monster>

It is true that some not all swans fans expect far too much from the team and go into savaging the players and manager when they get beaten by a club so big and won everything under the sun in recent years, These big clubs have so much talent in reserve than what we have as a whole squad and they have to have an off day which all clubs have for us to beat them. I hope man city are below par and we can get something but as a realistic then it's going to be a tall order if man city turn it on as they are streets ahead of teams like us...It wont be the players fault and it wont be the managers fault or anyone else connected to the club it will be because they are a massive club that would not have achieved what they have if they were not....Lets hope lady luck is with us and not them..

Of course we should be hard to please. That keeps everyone on their toes. Doesn't mean we shouldn't give our all supporting the lads on the pitch.

It doesn't matter how good we are doing, there will always be one or two hell bent on ousting Monk and HJ.

When we threw winning positions away against, at the time, a very poor Newcastle, then that was a good example of a time to be hard. I'd like to think that most of us on this forum would accept that Man City could play badly for 89 minutes and beat us in 1. Nothing to do with the team performance, just a simple fact that they have some superstar players that, even if they play badly, can magic up goals from nothing. There are 7 or so clubs in this division (maybe 8 now, including Southampton) who, on paper, are visibly better than us and have the match-winners to beat us even when they're playing badly. The other 12 clubs? I don't really see a reason why we shouldn't be beating, or at least almost beating, all of them on a weekly basis.

I must have missed the posts where the "ousting of Monk and HJ" was mooted.

"Its the table of respect thats got me worried"

not trying to cause an argument here but can you explain this?
is it in relation to how we are perceived to have treated Laudrup? our disciplinary record this season?

    Thanks

From the sort of sacking of Laudrups agent , throwing wrenches into the works ,by Huw , to make Laudrups life as difficult as possible till his sacking , the timing of Laudrups sacking reeked of Huws spite and cowardness ..Anyone who thinks the Vorm fiasco is over , is wrong on more than one level . We use to be the talk of football for good things , not crap like the Vorm Deal .The team sent out against Everton in the FA Cup last season didnt gets many ""Compliments"". Not a Monk thing for me its Huw showing his real colors that have me worried , just an opinion , we all have them .

This is how i see things and agree that there are 8 teams that if they play to their strengths are better than us ATM. We are improving though under monks guidance and we are not that far behind at least 4 of those clubs and it is them that has to be on top form to beat us, The super clubs are way ahead again and its very unlikely we could ever match them ever...
