The South Korea international spent last season on loan with the Black Cats, whom he helped to reach the final of the League Cup and retain their Premier League status. Gus Poyet was keen to sign the 25-year-old on a permanent basis, but he turned his attention elsewhere when the Swans demanded a double-figure fee, according to the Sunderland Echo.
I think it's probably true, He is getting games after all. I think they were just pricing us out of a move. Saying that, can't see us gone beyond an enquiry on this one. We'll have enquired about many. Don't think a move was realistic, not at that price. Congerton will have laughed.
Let's be frank Funk, there are some Sunderland supporters who'd have had us pay huge amounts for Alonso, Ki, Borini, etc. We'd have blown the next 3 years budget on players who aren't worth it and ended up with a load more high waged players on 5 year deals. People keep talking about Newcastle and how they bring in, then sell players on but they have a constant stream of £5/6/7 million players who leave for peanuts. Ben Arfa is just the latest is a stream going back to Xisco and beyond.
Very true Smug. Very happy with our window, knowing Rodwell was bought with our own revenue. I think we'll have an impressive war chest next summer, all from our own revenue. We're a bit light but there's still January to come.
