Swansea City v Millwall Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 3 October 2020 Venue - Liberty Stadium Kick off - 3pm Following their comfortable 2-0 away victory at Wycombe, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a home match against Millwall. Last Saturday in front of Sky Sports’ cameras, Andre Ayew slid in to put the Swans in front before another close-range finish from summer signing Jamal Lowe ensured Steve Cooper's team made it two league wins from two on the road in 2020-21. Swansea, who were beaten in last season's play-off semi-finals, have seven points after three games this term and are yet to concede in the Championship. This is the third consecutive year that the Swans have started the Championship season by taking seven points from their first three games. But the picture does not look so good for Wycombe, who are still to get off the mark in their first season in the second tier. Later Saturday afternoon, Millwall continued their unbeaten start to the Championship season with a draw against London rivals Brentford in a game of few chances. The Lions took an early lead when Jed Wallace headed in Mason Bennett's cross after the forward had outmuscled Pontus Jansson on the left flank. Ivan Toney equalised for the visitors midway through the first half with a composed penalty, having been pulled down in the box by Shaun Hutchinson. Millwall came closest to finding a winner on a windy afternoon at The Den, with wing-back Mahlon Romeo hitting the post before the break and Tom Bradshaw driving a low effort wide in the second half. The Swans have played Millwall on 50 occasions, winning 20, drawing 11 and losing 19 matches. In the corresponding fixture last season, the Swans produced one of their most disappointing home performances under Cooper, losing 0-1 in a match where Rowell’s tactics worked perfectly with Cooper failing to adapt anything to try and overcome how Rowell has set up the Lions. Indeed, disappointingly, in the away fixture it was pretty evident that Cooper had learned little or nothing as Millwall played the same way. That said, in the away match we had Rhian Brewster - whose moment of genius salvaged a point. Turning to Saturday, I’m expecting Millwall to play the same way as last season, and unless Cooper has learnt anything, then I can see the Lions repeating last season’s success at the Liberty. If Cooper has learned the lessons, then I believe that the Swans will win 2-0
Thanks Taff. I think this will be a close game with probably no more than a goal in it. A 1-1 draw wouldn’t surprise me but I predict another clean sheet and 1-0 to the Swans.
Can lightning strike for the third time or has Cooper at last learned anything from playing them last season? Would love to go for an optimistic win but maybe a draw, all things considered. 1 - 1.
Cheers Taff ,something to read whilst I wait ( for long time so it seems ) for my 1st coat undercoat to dry ,its not the best weather conditions today
Swansea City has completed the signing of Brighton striker Viktor Gyokeres on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance. The 22-year-old Sweden international becomes the Swans’ sixth summer signing in the wake of the captures of Korey Smith, Freddie Woodman, Morgan Gibbs-White, Marc Guehi and Jamal Lowe. Gyokeres, who will wear the number 14 shirt, bolsters Steve Cooper’s attacking options and is available for Saturday’s Championship meeting with Millwall at the Liberty Stadium.
Unless the Welsh fa are told to stop the transfer by our Mark to cut the footfall of people from England coming to Wales....
Kristoffer Peterson is on his way out of the club – heading to Germany and Fortuna Dusseldorf. The fee is reported at being somewhere in the region of £400,000 plus add ons and will bring to an end a disappointing time in South Wales for the wide man who spent the secondhalf of last season on loan at Utrecht
