Well we are on the road again with a trip to Swansea City with another sold out away end.

Swansea City sitting 7th in the table on 10 points and Bristol City sitting 13th on 8 points.

Liam Manning scraped a win against his previous club Oxford United last weekend and Swansea beating Coventry 2-1 away a excellent result.

Sunday hopefully Liam Manning plays players in their correct positions and stops playing players out of position.

Some good news with big Rob Atkinson coming through a game earlier in the week-I do rate this guy will be like a new signing coming back from his injuries.

Results wise if Manning sets up properly i think we could get something from the game-if he keeps playing players out of position then we will lose.

Hopefully he has learned from the second half against Oxford and will play players in correct positions.

Swansea City 1 Bristol City 2

Atkinson isn’t better than Dickie or Vyner for me, but good to have competition for places in the starting 11, and bench strength, something we have lacked the last 18-24 months.
The Jacks have had a good start to the season, so a point isn’t a bad outcome on Sunday.

Atkinson at his best is on a par with Dickie imo, he is slightly more mobile, but Dickie reads things better and makes up for his lack of mobility, both are good championship defenders. As you said good competition when fit, which hopefully will keep them both on their toes.

This is another tough tough game
Aside from our point at Hull on the opening day of the season, our away form has been dismal
Unfortunately I don’t see us getting anything at Swansea either

Unless we improve greatly on our last two away games we’ll be well beaten imo, starting with players in their natural positions would help, along with not trying to be clever.

Dickie is by far our best central.
For me the comparison should be between Vyner and Atkinson who should start with a fit again Dickie.
Vyner is currently ahead of Atkinson but a better balance for Dickie would be playing alongside Atkinson.

I can’t see Atkinson playing a full game straight back from injury.
We’ll probably see a similar lineup to that which LM deployed vs Oxford.

Dickies natural side is right, Atkinson is left. So should be imo that Vyner misses out like your suggestion,

I wouldn't be surprised when Atkinson is fit he starts alongside Dickie with Vyner right side in a back 3.

I reckon he will be Dickies partner best central defenders by a mile at Ashton Gate. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Vyner struggles on the right side in a back 3 from what we’ve seen in previous seasons, so not sure that’s the way to go tbh. Maybe try Dickie there?

    I wouldn’t start with Mehmeti.

Let’s hope captain Mannering eats humble pie and start the team that finished against Oxford
If he don’t then I have no sympathy for him at all.
