Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com Stadium Date - 6 August 2022 Kick off - 3:00pm Almost 3 months to the day since the final Championship match at the Swansea.com Stadium of last season - a disappointing 0-1 defeat to visiting QPR - Russell Martin’s Swansea squad welcome Blackburn for their first home game of the 2022/23 season. In last Saturday’s opening fixture of the season, away to Rotherham, the Swans returned with a point from a game that they could / should have won. Chiedozie Ogbene flicked home a header to give Rotherham an early lead, before Darling drove in the equaliser from distance in his first competitive game for the Swans since signing from MK Dons. Michael Obafemi missed a glorious chance in the second half to give the Swans victory. The Swans will feel they had enough control to secure victory - though goalkeeper Andy Fisher made a number of saves as Rotherham created a number of opportunities to also take all three points. Whilst the Swans were drawing with Rotherham, Blackburn Rovers were kicking off the new season with a strong defensive effort to beat QPR 1-0 in the Championship in Jon Dahl Tomasson's first game in charge. Both sides were evenly matched through most of the first half, Osman Kakay hitting the bar for QPR before Rovers launched a sustained attack and Lewis Travis blasted a shot into the top corner from 25 yards out. The 24-year-old's wonder strike meant the newly appointed Rovers captain has already equalled his goal tally from last season, and was sufficient to earn victory for his team. The Swans have played Blackburn on 47 previous occasions, winning 16, drawing 8 and losing 23. In the corresponding match last season, the Swans ran out 1-0 winners, despite having Manning dismissed for receiving 2 yellow cards: Turning to Saturday, I think that the teams will play out a 1-1 draw.
Early days yet, but the signs are there that we still have a defence full of suicidal tendencies. If we can keep a clean sheet I think Blackburn won't score.
Lib you should go.Weve been south,Greek, now north,Turkish....this is fabulous so different. Come on you Swans
I know Greece reasonably well, but when I was travelling around in those parts, a Greek stamp in your passport meant anything Turkish was not allowed.
Cheers 55 - we are here until 16th (11 nights) Same hotel as we were in over Easter when my grandson was playing with Jack Colback’s son. I think I mentioned back then that Colback’s father in law said that the Forest squad really rated Cooper.
Landed at Larnaca passport checked and stamped.Checked again at border crossing by Turkish officials and straight through..
Great start - just had text and email to say that there is a 3hr delay, and we’re landing in Madrid for a ‘brief stopover’….
