Swansea City v Arsenal Barclays Premier League Date - Tuesday 30 January 2018 Kick Off - 19:45 Venue - Liberty Stadium Following their battling 1-0 win last Monday night - to gain 3 much needed points - against Liverpool, who came into the match on an unbeaten 18 match run, Swansea's next PL fixture is a home match against Arsenal who come into the game after reaching the Carabao League Cup Final with a 2-1 win over London rivals, Chelsea. Given the recent 0-5 hammering that Liverpool had given the Swans in December, Carlos Carvalhal's Swansea team defied the odds in beating Liverpool. With the Swans needing to win the vast majority of their remaining home games, the victory over Liverpool hopefully gave the team and Jack Army the lift needed to give hope for another Great Escape. Disappointingly, we are almost half way through January and there has still been no strengthening of the squad by the Swans owners and DoF - surely the win over Liverpool must have convinced them that relegation is not inevitable? Incredibly, we are only 6pts away from 10th place. Since the first match in March 1925, which incidentally the Swans won 1-0, the team have played each other on 24 occasions, with Swansea winning 8, drawing 3 and losing 13. In the corresponding fixture last January, Arsenal ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. After having initially been frustrated by their opponents, the Gunners led at half-time thanks to Olivier Giroud's powerful, close-range finish. Alex Iwobi's strike looped in via a big deflection off Jack Cork to double their advantage, and Kyle Naughton scored a second Swansea own goal when he turned another Iwobi shot into his own net. Alexis Sanchez completed the rout to lift Arsenal up to third in the table, while Hull's win over Bournemouth meant that Swansea returned to the bottom of the table - where they find themselves again at present. Looking ahead to Tuesday evening, I think that Carlos Carvalhal will set the Swans up to frustrate the Gunners and hope to strike on the break. My heart says the Swans will get a 1-1 draw but my head says that Arsenal will win 0-2.
Huge fan of Arsenal but i hope we can get something, If we can't then i will be less disappointed than normal....hope 2 - 1 Swans win....
Sorry I can't see anything but an Arsenal win. Hopefully we will make them work their socks off for it 1-0 to Arsenal
Arsenal not in good form - a convincing win in the cup and confidence will be high - a draw on the cards.
Most said that about the Liverpool game. maybe a signing or 2 before then. I think we will give them a game 1-1 for me as it stands That's why we cant go to weak for that game, don't want to be playing Arsenal on the strength of a defeat to a l2 side. be back in the press for all the wrong reasons again. win well and its another without defeat and confidence would be high.
I'm told they are trying but it is proving more difficult due to the League position. If we were to beat Arsenal, could be a busy final day?
Our record against Arsenal is not bad but we have to play our strongest side and i have no doubt we will as Carlos rests most of the key players....Confidence is very high in the squad since Carlos has took over as we see our form gain momentum as one of the best outside the big teams.....A win in the cup and another in the premiership is well on the cards....
4 points from Liverpool and Arsenal is nothing to be scoffed at. 6 Points and we're in dreamland! Let's not think about the final alternative for now...
