Swansea City v. Wolves FA Cup Third round replay Date - Wednesday17 January 2018 Kick off - 19:45 Venue - Liberty Stadium Following a battling performance at St James's Park to gain a point against fellow relegation battlers, Newcastle, bottom of the table Swansea's next match is the home FA Cup replay against runaway Championship leaders Wolves. Wanderers have an impressive record against top-flight opposition in the past 12 months, having won at Stoke and Liverpool in the FA Cup last season, and Nuno Espirito Santo's runaway Championship leaders have also beaten Southampton this campaign in the Carabao Cup, while they also took Manchester City to penalties in the same competition. But while Wolves did have the better chances to score early on when the two sides met at Moulineux, they could not yet add Swansea to the list and their task was not helped by Ruben Vinagre's red card five minutes before half-time. Swansea came into the game a bit more thereafter, but they were then also reduced in number after 67 minutes when Leroy Fer was sent off - since overturned on appeal - and neither team could make the breakthrough. Both managers made six changes but Wolves settled quickest and Bright Enobakhare had the ball in the net early on, only to be denied as referee Anthony Taylor had already blown for a foul. Swansea and Wolves have played each other on 34 occasions (including last season's Football League Trophy match when the Swans fielded their Under 23s), with the Swans winning 9, Wolves 13 and 12 draws. Wolves last visited the Liberty in April 2012 - their last season in the PL - and the match finished in an amazing 4-4 draw when Matt Jarvis's two goals spearheaded a thrilling Wolves fightback. In a breathless start Andrea Orlandi and Nathan Dyer headed in for Swansea either side of Joe Allen's low strike. Steven Fletcher looped in a header in reply before Danny Graham's close-range curler made it 4-1, only for Jarvis to drill in from Kevin Doyle's cross. Dave Edwards burst through the middle for Wolves' third and Jarvis completed the recovery as he slid in to convert Fletcher's cross. Turning to Wednesday evening, I'm hoping that the Swans will select a strong team and take the opportunity of building confidence with a Cup run. 2-1 to the Swans!
After the bizarre selection of Saturday, injuries and returns who knows what the team will loot like. MVdH (not happy about being picked left back may not be fit for Wolves - shhhh) Nordfelt Clucas Fernandez Bartley Olson Renato Fer Mesa Carroll Routs McBurnie
Not Bothered what happens here with the situation we are in. ...If we win then we win but if we lose i dont care as every effort for survival must take preference..
Wish the fvcking board would make every effort for survival the preference. They are treating the supporters & the whole city in general with utter utter contempt... CVNTS.
I'd like to be at a shareholders meeting of the new majority owners. Do their backer now their investments will be sold of a 5 cents on the $ in 18 months?
These games do give the opportunity to look at some different options of players and tactics, so I am happy for us to give it a go and if we are knocked out then so be it.
I'll be very disappointed if we lose this game. As Carlos has not playing settled side I think we need as many games outside the PL as possible to get players on the same wavelength. It might also provide so incentive to the owners to release funds.
I will to Bob, if I walk out the Liberty after seeing our team knocked out. I to think the extra games could be helpful to improve ourselves under Carvalhal. I thought we had the £30M+ to spend anyway..
That £30 million needs to be spent and more, we all know that, but if I were an investor rather than a fan I'd be very nervous about pouring more money into a lost cause especially as expensive contracts will continue into next season. It is also time for the fans to start properly supporting the team. Looking back at previous seasons Leicester & Palace have been dead and buried but had fans going crazy throughout their struggled and got out of trouble. Newcastle, Villa and Sunderland all were in decent places when their fans got on their backs and went down.
I reckon Jenkins only said maoney was available to appease the masses or so as not to get boo'd next game. Saying it was available was a bluff Thing is, even if he wasn't bullshitting us and the money was on the table, just who in their right mind would come here anyway as we're about as desirable genital warts right now. (Unless of course the players name was Imiquimod )
I actually did refer to that money as a bit tongue in cheek Stumpy. Jenkins did speak about it in the ‘interview’ & we all know how much we were surplus for summer transfers in the close season. So nobody’s forgotten about it. The fact he’s mentioned it now & for example, it doesn’t become available, will surely make his situation worse than it currently is. We all possibly assumed the Yanks had ‘creamed it off’. But if it it’s supposedly there to reinforce the squad & doesn’t materialise (as it’s looking), it’s going to be a bit more than ‘booing’ that Jenkins & the sell-outs are going to face. Thing is, the benchmark is pitifully low with our current squad, so just a few half decent acquisitions in the important positions we desperately need, might just tip the balance in Carlos’s favour. I think he could work wonders with the right players. Fringe players desperate for World Cup squad positions might be the drive we need. Trouble is, we’re at the mercy of our DoF for these players...
Bob the Yanks haven’t invested a penny into our squad, as we all know, so could hardly be described as ‘investors’ in the first place. That’s precisely why & also because of Jenkins’s ego & mismanagement, we’re are just about a lost cause!! They are business men, surely they must understand investment is required to get ourselves out of this position. Though they’re sure not showing any signs of interest to do something about it and arresting our decline. A lot of the fans that sit around me at the Liberty are shocking. Never witnessed such a passionless bunch of freaks in all my days supporting the Swans. Just what the emotionless cvnts would have made of the North Bank I don’t know. Being in attendance at a football match for me is a 2 way thing. It’s almost like, entertain me or I’ll be passionless, or I’ll boo!!...
To be fair to Jenkins i dont think he has any say in anything anymore and probably hasn't since Pearlman was appointed by the yankee crooks...
...... and £8m in the Bank (not forgetting that he still owns 5% of the shares, albeit with no attaching voting rights.....)
same again the morgans owned the club and Jenkins was the chairman that had no say who the morgans wanted to sell too..
Yet if Huw was not supportive, he could have joined forces with the Supporters Trust, thereby controlling c34% of the shares - sufficient to block/prevent Special Resolutions.
