Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Date - 28 November 2018
    Kick off - 19.45
    Venue - Liberty Stadium

Following their comprehensive 1-4 defeat at the hands of Championship leaders, Norwich City, next up for Graham Potter’s Swans’ squad is the visit of 4th placed West Brom.

Swansea's day against the Canaries started badly when Mike van der Hoorn turned the ball in to his own net early on, with Emiliano Buendia slotting in Norwich's second and Marco Stiepermann tapping in to complete a neat third in just the 37th minute.

The hosts, who had won three of their previous four games, briefly threatened a comeback after 21-year-old James' first league goal.

But Pukki, who struck Norwich's 97th-minute winner when they beat Millwall 4-3 last time out, made the points safe again when he netted his 14th of the season in all competitions.

His goal saw the impressive Canaries score four in a game for a third consecutive match, with Finland's Pukki netting five of those 12 goals.

The victory was Norwich's 14th from 22 games in all competitions this season, and their 11th from their past 14.

The previous evening, West Brom maintained their promotion push with victory at bottom club Ipswich Town.

Jay Rodriguez scored Albion's first-half opener, netting his ninth goal of the season from six yards after Kieran Gibbs had nodded a right-wing cross back across goal.

Rodriguez and Ahmed Hegazi wasted good opportunities before Harvey Barnes, who had earlier struck the post from 10 yards, fired low into the corner from a similar range to double Albion's lead.

Ipswich substitute Kayden Jackson pounced on Tosin Adarabioyo's error to cause a nervy finale and youngster Jack Lankester clipped the post with a stoppage-time free-kick, but Albion held on to claim the 3 points.

The Swans and the Baggies have met on 41 occasions, with the Swans winning 18, West Brom 14 and 9 draws.

In last season’s PL clash at the Liberty, the Swans ran out 1-0 victors thanks to Wilfried Bony’s 81st minute winner.

Turning to Wednesday evening, I think that the Swans will be fired up to ensure no repeat of the capitulation that happened against Norwich. On that basis, I’m going for a 1-1 draw. <cheers>

I know exactly what you mean.

I forecast that we’d only get 4 points this month - I could see the writing on the wall. I ‘expected’ 3 points at Rotherham and 1 point at Bolton, with 2 home defeats (Norwich & West Brom)

As it stands, defeat on Wednesday would mean that we would have secured only 3 points in November - the win at Bolton.

We have a young squad - they will / could very well tire as the season progresses.

Whilst I don’t expect relegation, unless we strengthen in January, we are more likely to be fighting against that than challenging for a play-off spot.

I don't see us in a relegation scrap either but saying that we are sliding gradually.

My fear is that we could actually be worse off after January. The ****s might allow a few very, very cheap players in but we'll almost certainly see players sold too.

I hope to be proven wrong of course.

Sliding <laugh> Were we not suppose to be bottom all season by most fans...<rofl> The Norwich game was nothing spectacular and 1-4 flattered them big time....They are no better than us football wise as the stats shows. We dont have good consistent finishers that's all and Potts has players in mind that should fix that problem......We are doing better and look better than all the teams we have played so far but there will always be a risk when nobody is that good at finishing and after saying that we are still in the top half of the table and i expect when the window opens and we bring in players that we will be pushing towards top spot where we could easily be now if we had good enough strikers who can actually put the ball in the net regularly......

It’s six years ago today since that beautiful game when we smashed West Brom 3-1, playing probably the greatest football played by a Swans team.
