Swansea City v Millwall Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 9th February 2019 Kick off - 3pm Venue - Liberty Stadium Having been undefeated throughout January, the Swans fell at the first fence in February, losing 2-0 at Bristol City. Next up for the Swans is a home encounter against Millwall - the first match in 17 years when Huw Jenkins will not be the Club Chairman. It seems certain that the off-field matters will make the atmosphere at the ground ‘interesting’ to say the least: Manager Graham Potter has a tough enough job as it is at present, let’s hope he can get the team to focus and deliver against a Millwall team in need of points to stay clear of the relegation zone.. In their last game, Bristol City beat the Swan to register their seventh successive win and move into the Championship play-off spots. After Andreas Weimann had seen a first-half header ruled out for offside, the former Aston Villa forward put the hosts in front 42 seconds after the restart when he converted Jamie Paterson's cross. Swansea pushed for an equaliser but that gave Weimann the time and space to set up Callum O'Dowda to seal victory. Boosted by the return of Adam Webster in defence, the hosts absorbed long spells of pressure from Swansea City throughout but Graham Potter's side failed to carve out any clear chances. For Swansea, a seven-game unbeaten run comes to an end, and after Tom Carroll, Jefferson Montero and Wilfried Bony all left on deadline day. As for Millwall, in their last game against Rotherham United, the points were shared at The Den in a 0-0 draw. The Lions nearly opened the scoring in the third minute as Ben Marshall, who was making his first start after returning from injury, saw his curling effort from 20 yards out clip the top of the crossbar. Midway through the second half Rotherham's Michael Smith saw a shot cleared off the goal-line by Marshall following a scramble in the Millwall penalty area. Marshall nearly scored a winner in injury time, heading Jay Wallace's cross narrowly wide with Millers goalkeeper Marek Rodak rooted to the spot. Swansea and Millwall have played each other on 47 occasions previously, with the Swans winning 19, losing 18 and 10 draws. In the reverse fixture at the Den earlier in the season, the Swans ran out 2-1 victors: Turning to Saturday, it is essential that Graham Potter’s team gets the show back on the road, focuses on the football and secures the 3 points on offer. However, that may be easier said than done. Millwall will be desperate for the points, and I think their style of play and character will feed off and get strength from the atmosphere in the ground. I’m going 1-1, but in the circumstances, wouldn’t be surprised to see Millwall level the overall match series against the Swans.
Unfortunately, neither are we now glam. We were blunt at Bristol, with no pace down the flanks. We had Montero in the Midlands, Dan James in the shed and Narsingh getting splinters. Unless Dan James plays like a hero for the second half of the season I can see us drop into the lower third of the division. 1-1 next Saturday.
Millwall will score at least once as we have a poxy defence - meaning we need to score at least 2 to win ANY game.
Telling us what's on the menu at the Ynysmeudwy Arms ,, no problem with anyone making a living but I won't intentionally buy anything which has a link to those barstards , and that's a great sacrifice for me cos I love a drop of Gower Gold and a nice steak
Dan is available for Saturday, Routledge could be as well, but Oli may be out: https://www.swanseacity.com/news/dan-available-oli-doubt-millwall
Where's the time gone, but also that was the start of our decline .Monk kept us up but then dismantled the squad
