SWANSEA ARE TAAR-GETS ABOVE: Adel Taarabt wants to give big-spending QPR lift off to the new season Adel Taarabt wants to give big-spending QPR lift off to the new season 15th August 2012 By Darren Witcoop ADEL TAARABT wants to give big-spending QPR lift off to the new season by gunning down the Swans again. Taarabt has been a thorn in the Welsh clubâs side in recent seasons. The Moroccan play- maker bagged a double in the Hoopsâ 4-0 Boxing Day win during the 2010-11 promotion campaign. And he was named man of the match after tormenting Swansea in a 3-0 home win at the tail end of last term. Now Taarabt is on a mission to heap further misery on Michael Laudrupâs new side when Rangers launch their Premier League season against the Swans at Loftus Road on Saturday. He said: âI canât wait to get started and itâs nice that we start with Swansea as I have a good record against them. âI always seem to play well and score goals against them. âThey must hate playing against me and will probably be sick of the sight of me. âThey do play very good football but that just seems to bring the best out of my game. âIâm hoping I will be given a chance to play again and itâs important we start well.â This time last year, Taarabt seemed to be on his way out of the club after attracting interest from PSG. But after a £10m move to the French side collapsed, he struggled for form before playing a late starring role in QPRâs battle to beat the drop. The ex-Tottenham winger says he is now settled in west London after penning a new three-year contract with the Hoops.* And Taarabt, 23, says his only target is finding a way into Mark Hughesâ new-look side following the summer spree. He added: âI think I have matured as a player and was happy to sign the new contract. âThere have been a lot of new faces, with all the signings, and these are some exciting times. âI want to be part of that. The club is getting bigger and bigger, with a new training ground and talk of a new stadium. âLast year our aim was to stay in the Premier League. We achieved that and now we want to progress and improve.â
Yes, compared to last season, when he tried everything but score, it would be great to see Adel chalk up some early goals that would help his confidence, and also no Barton to nag him.
