Rodgers, who saw his side beat Real Betis 1-0 in their final pre-season friendly at the Liberty Stadium today, added: "He is the Dutch number two and I think it says it all that we can attract that calibre of player here. "He fits our style which is why it's taken so long for us to get the right type of goalkeeper. "If we end up doing the deal that gets Michel in then it would be a wonderful signing for the club. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14432856.stm
let's hope we can agree terms with the guy. because moreria(or however you spell it) looks dodgy, his distribution was ok, but he made to many mistakes i feel, and he looks the type who'll give away comedy goals.
Really? I'd heard good things about Moreira... Vorm is quality from what I've heard... quite excited about this...
Well the Jasper Cillessen rumours were a smoke screen, it's now up on the swans site as well, looks a cracking signing if we get him. http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~2412223,00.html
How can you say that ? He got offered more money for his services, if it happened that you went for an interview got a job that paid say 50% more, would you be classed a traitor for taking a better offer ? You got to understand it's a job, he didn't sign his undying love to the club!
Rodgers likes the sound of him, hopefully this'll be wrapped up today or tomorrow by the sounds of it.
Great news if it comes off. I thought Tremmel looked very assured yesterday. Much more so than Moriera. would give him a year aswell
I hope we are getting a keeper who can take crosses and dominate his area. Sorry to bang on about this but I guess I'm old fashioned. I'm sick and tired of sh*****g myself every time the opposition get a corner, a free kick or create a situation for a cross. Look, Moreira had a couple of shaky moments yesterday but his distribution wasn't at all bad. In fact he drew some applause for it on occasion. Fair play to Tremmel, so did he and some of his punts to the wingers were inch perfect. I reckon Buck has been drumming this into them so it is a skill that can vastly be improved with practice. BUT did anyone notice that Betis twigged this as the game went on and made sure they closed us down in these situations? Make no mistake, Premiership teams will have done their homework and will make sure that our players are tightly marked when our keeper has the ball. It is easily done and turns a clearance into a 50/50 jobbie with the opposition having the advantage of facing and coming on to the ball. What worked for us in the NPC will be a whole lot harder to get away with against better organised, quality teams. Distribution is a skill that can easily be taught to keepers - many keepers used to be outfield players before putting on the gloves anyway. The keeper is under no pressure when he has possession of the ball; he can stroll to where he wants in the penalty area; take his time, look up and carefully measure his kick or throw. That can be practised ad nauseum in training with a minimum of effort. It is far more difficult to train a keeper to confidently deal with crosses. For me, much of that ability has to be inborn to begin with and a keeper has to judge and deal with so many more aspects than merely punting the ball accurately to a team mate. He has to judge the flight, swerve and pace of the ball; he has to be aware of where his defenders are; what they are likely to do (understanding) and of course he has to be aware of the strikers coming on to the same ball. Then on top of all this, a keeper has to be fearless in this situation. Some are not and stay rooted to their line for fear of getting clattered - not a snide criticism made from the safety of my computer seat but it is a factor. I grew up in an era when keepers didn't enjoy the protection that they do now - to be honest in the teams I played for (lower level, I stress) the guy between the posts was usually a bit of an animal and was as likely to clobber his own centre half as hard as the opposing strikers. Happy days!! and I'm sure the older posters will remember this as well as I do. All in all, I guess I would be happy with an eight foot Kodiak bear between the sticks with the agility of a chimpanzee and the reach of an orang-utan! Seriously though, accepting decent shot stopping as a given, I'll take a keeper who commands his box and takes the crosses all day and every day over a good distributor. There are ten other players who can be doing the distribution. There is only one player who is allowed to use his hands to catch or punch the ball and I'll settle for the keeper who excels at that. Just my thoughts, guys and I hope I haven't bored you with my rambling.
we'd be stupid not to offer tremmel a years contract he looks alot better than moreira and if we get this michel vorm then id have vorm no1 tremmel no2 and moreira no3.
Just in from S.C.F.C. so i'm not sure how acurate it is ............Received ... 07-08-2011 - Henry Beuks - Netherlands 9598 Since 1hour in main dutch press telegraaf.nl + ad.nl..the 2nd goalie of the dutch team has signed swansea 3 years. He comes from fc utrecht (my favorite team).
I agree Jager If I Was offered more money I too would have gone. If what you guys say this Vorm sounds the one for the job, one dutch one out another one in , and he is the Dutch no2 ,maybe Tremmel while no 2 and moriera will be no 3 as someone said he played a lot better than moriera in 2days game. cant wait for 1st game a draw would be good guys mbut not banking on it. s t i d
