No one in their right mind would class us as an English club. If UEFA want to put an English flag by our name let them. Winning the cup is our priority, who cares about UEFA and their idiocy

You won't see many English flags flying amongst the Jack army if any, so UEFA can go and sit and spin!...............

It's just for tv, showing that we represent the English Premier League, should we win and of that there is no certainty. For me, when I am at matches I lay my Welsh Flag on the ground as I overheard the wife saying once she wished I had one dragon on the floor.

This is fair enough. We play in the English league system (thank goodness) so we can't expect to show the Welsh flag - that would be hypocritical. We all know what's what, so it's not a problem for me.

Exactly, the stadia will be full of Welsh flags (assuming we get there, which we should). If anything, UEFA will inadvertantly draw more attention to the fact we are not English.

I cant imagine the Welsh FA wanting to back a flag change either...now if it was the Redbirds???

Take pleasure in the fact that potentially the English teams for the first time in European competition couldnt qualify due to a wonderful team from Wales.

Aber, genuine question. I didn't see last years final because we were playing Stoke (went with Dilli, he speaks highly of you so be nice), but what anthems did they play if any ?

Another point being missed here is how insulting it is to the English. Certain morons from certain teams would find it funny but the more intelligent English person would realise that a Welsh team representing them puts them to shame,

I can see why Dilli gets on with you he thinks just about the same things as you do.

We'll have to let you know what they play. I won't disrespect England's anthem but there's no way I would sing it. Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau all the way for me.

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion enwogion o fri
Ei gwrol ryfelwr, gwlad garwyr tra mad
    Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

    Gwlad Gwlad,
    Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau

See you've started me off now

No wonder QPR fans get the reception that they do on here.

The good news is that I do not see this as Swansea representing England in anyway, shape or form but you will be representing the English league which is reasonable enough. If you want to play in the PL, Championship etc. then maybe you do need to show a little respect if not allegiance <ok>

That is not to say you have to sing the National Anthem, which by the way is the UK National Anthem and not the English Anthem, but as the Queen is your monarch then perhaps this needs to be looked at a little more carefully too.

No point talking about having your own nation with your own identity and songs etc. when it suits and then going on to wanting to be part of the English Football League because it suits you better. Swansea City forms part of the English league structure, if you don't want them to represent the PL in Europe then don't play

It's good to see a common sense approach from an English person Thai. You make many valid points and I think it's best that we all let it go over our heads.

The only point I would make is that many people in Wales view God Save The Queen as England's because its what's played at your international games. Perhaps if you chose Jerusalem or Land Of Hope And Glory instead then opinions may well change in time. I hope next week that both anthems are played and both respected. I can assure you that I will not be one of the ones booing GSTQ, but I won't sing it either

What a load of complete horseshit from UEFA.

We will NOT be representing England. We play in the "Football League" (notice no "English" prefix there, we'll come back to that) which is governed by the "FA" (again, no nationalised prefix) so why, according to UEFA is this suddenly the English league? **** off you bunch of ****s, and stop offending people just for the sake of making pencil-pushing easier. Bunch of pricks.

Exactly! Nothing to be gained by getting political or wound up over it. The few flags displayed should in no way interfere with the enjoyment of being there (assuming you do beat Bradford of course) <ok>

This might stir you up a bit then

First line on Wiki - This article is about the English football league

As a side note - the Bundesliga is not officially known as the German league but that is exactly what it is <ok>
