http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11731/7330360/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Good news indeed!
I hope the contract negotiations go something like this... Brendan : "I want xxx per year for x amount of years" Huw : "You got it. Sure you don't want a bit more?" In Brendan we trust!
Good shout scott, he has more that deserved this with the work he has done and his general approach within the club. Buck keep up the good work and the same for the board i say as they were the ones that seen the potential that Brendan had and what he could achieve.
next few MONTHS speaks volumes, The board had better play ball with our brendan or he wont be our brendan next season......lets see what they do as brendan has already indicated he wont sign nothing if the club is not on the same wave length as him......ata boy brendan you stick to your guns as you can walk into any job that becomes available and there will be plenty at the end of the season...
I don't believe they are messing around, the board and brendan have a good working relationship and things will be tied down shortly, it's not as simple as signing a contract of employment and that's it, there are things to discuss in regards to the running of the club and where Brendan fits in. Contract talks always take time nobody will be jumping in without thought .
Why does it speak volumes ? I would like to throw back something you always throw at us, if you knew anything about football you would know contracts are a complex thing to discuss, so just leave it to us who know what we are talking about
I believe that if the club are up front with what they are intending to do whether it is spending tens of millions (not likely) or whether it is yes we have money available for the right type of player to fit our system and we want to put X & Y in place for the future, then i reckon that brendan will be happy with the honesty that has been presented to him and gladly sign up for the long haul.
I don't like the bit 'next few months' either, it's a bit half hearted, or 'yea maybe', Jenkins needs to start getting clinical and business like with these contracts, and not so dipsy, as we could well see other clubs come poaching for our manager, and up the stakes, which I'm sure old Ebenezer won't like. The other point is that Rodgers has to be the hottest young manager in the Premiership, and we don't want to lose him so early on in our PL campaign, and don't forget that when you lose a manager, you can lose key players as well! Not too mention back room staff, so Jenkins wake up sunshine!..................... please log in to view this image
Rather than reading an abridged version of the report by sky, here is the link to the post article http://www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/S...endan-Rodgers/story-13938768-detail/story.htm I must say I am very comfortable in how things are progressing , and don't believe that rushing things in this matter is needed, both sides are talking from the same hymn book
That's strange mate here it is again http://www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/S...ndan-Rodgers/story-13938768-detail/story.html Edit it was missing the 'l' of HTML
That one works Jager good read but I'm not happy with this 'next few month's' bit, come on Huw give Brendan a New years present please, and the other bit I don't like, but is probably the EP, is, 'Swansea are likely to insert a sizeable compensation clause into any fresh contract they agree with Rodgers', likely!! come on for goodness sake, we are in the Premiership, that SIZEABLE compensation clause, should be mandatory, let's start thinking big please!!.................... please log in to view this image
Obviously Brendan is very important to us, but I don't see him being snapped up by anyone this season. He has only had a season and a half with us, which has been very succesfull, but before that has failed a couple of times in the championship. When he arrived at Swansea, our style was already set up to suit his style of football, whereas when he went to Reading, they were not set up like that, and so it didn't work. I don't see many teams in the premiership who play this style of football, who would be willing to risk taking Brendan on long term, whereas we have a set up which he knows he can thrive in, and so I don't have any worries about Brendan signing a new contract.
I agree with a lot of what you said leeeon but to say he failed a couple of times in the championship i don't think is right, at watford he took them from relegation material to mid table safety in half a season and at reading as you said it trying to get square pegs in round holes, basically the board had bowed to fans demand, then Brian mcdermott took them to the 5th round in the fa cup and mid table before last years exploits without many changes to what buck had set up.
get real its been known for weeks that brendan wants to sign and would put pen to paper tomorrow but like he has already indicated he wont sign until he knows which way the club is heading. I,E no money =im moving on....he dont want that, we dont want that so i hope Morgan and co show some spirit. If you have just watched the news then you would have seen Rodgers state that he needs 4-6 new players to give us a chance of staying up and that will cost around £10-£15 million as the minimum, so until brendan knows where he stands then im afraid he wont sign. a couple of million wont cut the chase and i totally agree,,,A couple of months is bullshit, brendan is ready to sign now,,the question is are the club ready to sign brendan....apparently not...
I tend to agree that it is early days for PL clubs to come calling. The fact is that we have been as good for Buck as he has been for us by way of the way our players were indoctrinated in the footballing ethic. Some credit has to be given to Martinez and Sousa for that with perhaps the seeds initially being sowed by Brian Flynn. I wouldn't think that too many PL clubs would want to take a chance on Buck right now as great as he has been with us. We are less than halfway into the season and a lot can happen yet. If we do establish ourselves this season then I would expect some serious interest in him from clubs whose players tend to play the way we do ie. with the greatest respect to them, not the likes of Sunderland, Stoke, Bolton, Wolves, etc. I just hope that Huw pulls his finger out and offers him an acceptable contract asap which includes a mega compensation clause.
