http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11670/8826775 Seems he's been released and training with us for a few days. He's a 20 year old left back/midfielder that they're offering a single year contract to.
The Jig-saw-puzzle that is our squad keeps growing along with the number of options ML is giving himself. Its too complicated to for us mere mortals to easily fathom; who is guaranteed a start? who plays where? outside of Michu, Bony, Ash, selection just isn't that obvious to me anymore. Meade on a free, great for us but criminal. The lad is uber talented, apparently, but his problem has been that he's always been thought of as too small, that's according those who know and certainly not me, hence his release by Arsenal. Not a strange signing by any means when you consider that, if he performs to expectations, it offers ML freedom, time and opportunity to maneuver/convert Ben to CB, a preferential scenario for ML. I've heard ML wants Ki to move to CB too. I think Meade will slip seamlessly into our way, as third choice left back at first with options to move up the line to left wing. Hope he don't go the way of the last arsenal player we signed !.... Come to think of it bloody Martin Hayes was another arsenal player who was a bit iffy, though he did come via Celtic
Respect to Arsenal I'm hearing they allowed him to train with us so he could make up his mind and only released him when he told them he wanted to join us.
Apparently he's a left winger who can also play left back. He stands a mighty 5ft 3ins tall. He was actually released by Arsenal end of June, so was a free agent. Let's hope he resurrects his career.
I have been getting worried that the 7 dwarfs and snow white look of the team has been getting a bit spoilt since Laudrup came in with his "over 5'5 inch giants" so its nice to see us go back to what we know best, the Swans are yet again striking a blow for the vertically challenged... if he can play and have a lions heart he will be well received down here
Welcome Jernade, hope you for-fill your potential with us, it's getting really crowded now in the middle of the park but it's nice to have that problem
One potential avenue to the first team for this fella is if Jazz isn't cutting it...Taylor might predominantly play at right-back leaving Ben and Meade to duke it out at LB.
Swansea have signed former Arsenal left-back Jernade Meade on a free transfer, subject to international clearance and approval from the Barclays Premier League. Meade, 20, came through the youth ranks at Arsenal and started in the Champions League group game away to Olympiacos in December 2012, before leaving the Emirates Stadium in the summer at the end of his contract. The defender, who has signed a one-year deal at the Liberty Stadium, will initially train with the under-21s as he looks to force his way into contention for Michael Laudrup's first-team plans. "I have been at Arsenal since I was 11, so to come to Swansea was the perfect move for me in terms of style," Meade said on the club's official website, www.swanseacity.net. "Swansea are a growing club and they've come from League Two by passing their way out of the divisions. "I think everyone has been very impressed by what they have achieved in the Premier League, and it's great to be a part of the club. "The people in the area are very welcoming and I know it's a family club too, which is great. "My aim is to start impressing in the Under-21s team and hopefully give Michael Laudrup another option at left-back for the first team. "He was a great player and the chance to learn from him is a massive opportunity for me. "The manager is not afraid to give youngsters a chance to prove themselves either. You only have to look at what Ben Davies achieved last season to realise that." Swansea, who will compete in Europe next season following their Capital One Cup victory at Wembley, last week confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast international forward Wilfried Bony for a club-record £12million from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, to further bolster the squad following the arrival of Alejandro Pozuelo and Jonjo Shelvey.
Looks like a good player! Let's hope he breaks into the first team. There is so much competition now, it's fantastic!
Gooner in peace. He was pretty impressive for us at youth level, and did a nice job against Olympiakos in the CL, one of the standouts of an otherwise bad night.
Because he's signing with us. All English transfers have to go through this stupid process because we're in Wales....
Blame UEFA...or the FA, or maybe the WFA I'm not sure...either way, yes, bloody stupid. Actually it's probably because we have that many levels of red tape to go through that's the problem in the first place. Just have to accept it as part of playing outside of the Welsh League.
I'll blame the WFA I think, they are usually to blame and if they aren't this time they deserve to be blamed because of all the other crap they cause!
