They might be trying to get a big game against La Galaxy.

I think it's a genius marketing idea. Americans will probably identify with our history of English oppression, and strong national identity.

Well, they might. They might just not know who we are and it'll be a wasted exercise, but I think it's a clever ploy. Better than going to Asia or somewhere like that, for example?

It will be good to raise the profile of the club.

If we went to Asia it would be teeming down with rain. Monsoon season for most countries unless they picked their spot. Long way for rained off games. It is a bigger market though. States is a decent option. Whatever happened to our away days at Neath and Port Talbot? <laugh>

Thought you'd like it Breezy. <laugh>

States is a bit of a trip. Swansea - Denver 7,000 km

But Swansea - Sydney 17,000 km

12 hour flight vs 24 hours plus all the additional cost.

if we went to the Far East we'd come back as the Swansea Dragons, playing in red, Tan in the boardroom etc. Keep clear :emoticon-0105-wink:

The closest we'll get to a Tan in the boardroom is if Jenkins forgets the suncream.

Football is the number one sport in China and South Asia. and the premier league is the biggest football brand, all the premier league games are available on TV at reasonable rates and because of the time difference 7 hours, most games are on live at ideal times ie 10pm saturday or sunday night. Every chinese male has their favourite team and will wear their teams shirt - and not all shirts are copies fans pride themselves on having genuine merchandise. Both Manyoo and chelski have official shops here in HK as well as training schools for kids.
All the swans games have been on tv, and the swans have had great coverage in the local chinese press this year, they've really taken to our style of football, however it is impossible to buy any swans merchandise here. if the swans came out this way, they'd build up a great fan base far better than anything they could achieve in the states and hopefully sell a lot of shirts. i wouldn't be worried about dodgy asian money being being offered to the club, i think jenkins and the board and the good people of swansea realise that what we have is special in terms of ownership and supporter involvement, we've come a long way in the last 10 or so years and there's no way we'd be foolish enough to consider to selling our souls like some other clubs i could mention <whistle>

Much rather see the Swans spread their wings in the west, than burn out in the UEFA.

Musty, you may get your way next year ..... who knows?
