    According to the Telegraph

Southampton And Arsenal Top Swans In "Best Run List"
Saturday, 1st Aug 2015 06:30 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)
An article run by the Telegraph has the Swans in third place in the list of "Best run football clubs in the country" with Premier League rivals Southampton and Arsenal the two sides that top them in the article.

The Telegraph said of the Swans "A model club, both on and off the pitch. Despite a prudent financial strategy, Swansea have firmly established themselves in the top flight: their 8th-placed finish was their highest in almost 35 years.

"The Liberty Stadium is a constant sell-out, with a long waiting list for season tickets, and wages are largely tied to performance for both players and officials. The club are unique in the Premier League in that the supporters own more than 20% of the club and have a representative on the board."

The Swans have been hailed many times in their rise through the divisions as a model club and are one of only two Premier League clubs detailed as having no debt. We sparked hope for many when we won promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and it is quite apt that we have been listed just ahead of Bournemouth who this week hailed us as a club that they wanted to emulate.

Arsenal ended up second in the list according to the Telegraph who said "Relentless consistency in the red half of north London. While the club have secured a top-four finish for the last nineteen seasons, they have completed an expensive but, ultimately, crucial move to the Emirates Stadium, one which has allowed revenues, profits and cash reserves to sky-rocket - only Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona generate more matchday income than the Gunners"

But it is Southampton who have been hailed as the best run in the country. Having been an established top flight team for many years before monetary issues hit home, the Saints have bounced back with three impressive Premier League seasons that have now seen them return to Europe this season thanks to last season's 7th placed finish.

The article reads "A second summer of selling their best players for as much as possible, and doing their damnedest to replace them with talented bargains. Such a turnover of players hasn’t destabilised the club, who continued to punch above their weight in the Premier League.

Chief executive Gareth Rogers: “We very much want to run this as a sustainable football club. It was a key aim when Markus Liebherr bought the company out of administration in 2009. The word sustainability pervades this place.”

There is no place in the Top 10 for Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United or Liverpool

    The full list reads

    1. Southampton
    2. Arsenal
    3. Swansea
    4. Bournemouth
    5. Spurs
    6. Everton
    7. West Brom
    8. Norwich
    9. Stoke
    10. Crystal Palace

My reasons are that Arsenal have not been out of the top 4 for 18 years and they have done that without over spending like the others and the saved up to build the Emirates while still challenging for the top'
Swansea have come from 20 minutes from losing league status and reached the premiership in a very short time and have stayed there still improving year on year, They are also just one club out of two clubs who have made a profit and are relatively debt free and without any billionaire on board.
Southampton have also come to the premiership after years in the wilderness as they were a regular Div1 club years ago, They were underdogs just like us but have proved everyone wrong just as we did and this year reached a European spot. For the fact that we have been longer and made a profit i place us 2nd but we are very close and i hope we both continue to prove some of the pundits wrong....

Well the only ones in the premier league now are villa and Newcastle, I think as Newcastle actually make a profit you can hardly call them badly run, so it leaves villa

I am very surprised Newcastle are not in the Top 5, league position aside they are a well run club who are fully embracing the FFP rules. For whatever reason people complain that Newcastle don't get themselves into debt, they think because the owner has over £3bn that should mean the club itself can afford to spend £100m per season. They haven't had the consistent league position impact that we have but they have shown they can operate like a real business and survive in the Premier League.

I agree with some of that list but the fact Newcastle are not even in the Top 10, let alone the Top 5 means I personally must consider the whole thing invalid. The Telegraph has shown no consistency in how clubs are being ranked.
