    hi,,

just wondering does anyone have a premier paypal account? reason being in the past 2 weeks or so of selling i've had quite a few people who buy my goods then dont pay for them, the option to require immediate payment is only for premier account holders i believe.

one guy tried to scam me for £60 last week, currently i have 4 unpaid items on my list, i;ve cancelled about 4 purchases in the past 2 weeks due to non payment and its very annoying having to check every few hours after the listing has ended to see if they finally pay..

are there increased fees for having a premier account?, i cant seem to find this out on google....

    thanks.

I think the premier account is more suited to a high volume of transactions and is more a business account. Probably safer if you shift a lot of goods. However, if you are a low volume casual seller I would stick with what you have.

Time wasters and non payers are a burden on Ebay and they are multiplying all the time.

    I'v had the same problem.

Sold two tickets, waiting for payment, and then he paid the day before the concert. I had to fork out an extra £6 for guaranteed next day delivery and his excuse was that it didn't say "Immediate payment required". Bastard.

As far as I remember there are 3 kids of paypal account, and you should be able to just upgrade to premier. I've got a premier account and always have done and all the fees are/should be the same.

Think it's just so they can give you more features if you're a premier or business user.

    thanks for replies lads......<ok>

ITI: i know, though strangely its only a problem i've had in the past 2 weeks for some reason, i know i could force them to go through with the transaction but i'd rather keep my feedback 100%.

Jackash: harsh, very harsh that, but if nothing else at least you got your payment, i keep coming across people who have new accounts then immidiately buy my goods, end the listing then dont pay, IMO the item should stay available and on the market til someone pays, not just that they click 'buy'...

Passive: thanks for that, can you confirm that each payment you receive through your premier account is 20p +3.4% of sale price? thats the rate basic members are charged..<ok>

one other thing, i upgraded my paypal account to premier.......but when i put 'require immediate payment' on ebay, when i try to list it, it says i need to upgrade my paypal account to premier???

'You must have a Premier or Business PayPal account to require immediate payment. If you want to require immediate payment, upgrade your PayPal account.'

i listed 12 of my guides up and a guy with 3 feedback has bought 10 without paying! ****ing scumbag. i know he's not going to pay and because of the problem i highlighted above it wont let me put require immediate payment.

so that means i've got 2 left to sell. how ****ing annoying, i need the money too, how is this allowed???

It might take a while to go through for ebay to recognise, or maybe Paypal don't upgrade you instantly?

With regards to HMRC you basically HAVE to register as a sole trader/self employed if you sell things to make a profit, and aren't just clearing out your own old stuff. Doesn't matter how much or little you earn from it. Think you can just wait for them to send you a letter but I'm not sure.

At least if you file an UPI (Unpaid Item) with eBay you will get the selling fees back and the buyer will get a strike against them <ok>
Alas it's about all you can do - eBay is full of cheats, lairs, scammers etc and eBay do not really do much to discourage them.

i tried to combat the non payers by upgrading paypal to premier and selecting 'require immediate payment' but it wont let me list and says i need to upgrade my account to premier or business. any ideas m8>

Nope, you have to upgrade to enforce it. The alternative is to wait to get the fees back. Sorry buddy, nowt you can do.
Although it sucks - the UPI is faster than it was a year ago!

With regards to have a Paypal business or Premium account - you can have one (of that I am pretty certain). It does not cost anything more but if I remember correctly Paypal will probably want some more information from you to verify the account. However, as far as I am aware, HMRC do not get a list of business or premium members names and addresses etc.

As mentioned above, if you are selling to make a profit you could wait until HMRC catch up with you, or you can approach them and declare it.

I would contact eBay support and ask if they can help you out. If you use the "chat" facility, you will hopefully get an answer but of course it is not unheard of for them to lay the blame at the door of Paypal (their own company <laugh>)

    hi again everyone :)

basically, a guy i was selling to was having payment problems. foolishly he kept on buying more and more of my guides to see if it worked(i had 15 up for sale). first he bought 2, then 3, then another 3, then finally on his last 3 it went through. only problem is that although i've requested to cancel all the ones that didnt go through he's sort of cut off communications with me.

i was going to just relist the 8 that didnt go through in a brand new auction listing but does anyone know if he now decides to cancel the ones that didnt go through, that the auction will be back up and runing and i will potentially be selling 16 items when i only have 8 to sell, meaning i'll have to cancel half and will have to pay 10% of the buy it now price of the ones i had to cancel?? - the auction was for 3 days due to end sunday evening <ok>

any help again much appreciated <ok>

I think if you request to cancel and the other person doesn't respond in a set amount of time (a week I think???) then it'll cancel automatically. So up to you whether you risk upping the quantity again or wait until it's cancelled and list again.
