Rubbish tonight. We all know we lack up front but Sven seems devoid of ideas tactics and formation. Just like the end of his England reign. Your post match comments must be from another game and your team selections leave me speachless. You may have good contacts but you have to make them play. I had concerns during the 2nd half of last season, they haven't disappeared. Anyone got Martin O Neill s number as it is going to be catch up season again, part 2.
I knew people would be wanting Sven out if we didn't start well, we are Leicester after all, but even I am surprised that people want him out after 3 games! Well done lads, you've excelled yourself this time! " History repeats itself, the first as tragedy, then as farce."
He plays so defensive for a team that should be free flowing. The ball gets passed backwards alot because thats where 10 of our 11 players are most of the time, behind the ball!
I'm surprised that Sven didn't go for the diamond formation seeing as it is the formation that has seen us play our best football so far this season. The team was too slow and ponderous in possession and we couldn't create anything. Wellens had one of the worst games I've seen him play. He is supposed to be our spark in midfield but he rarely made a foward pass. Everyone was calling for Dyer to play but is was a classic Lloyd performance for me. Every time he did beat his full-back and crossed it, the ball ended up nearer to the steward than the striker. Again Nugent was fighting a lone battle up top with no support. King wasn't as close as he usually was and again the wide men stayed too wide. The only decent spell we had was after our goal when our tails were up and Gally had a chance that he should of scored and maybe that would have changed the game but it wasn't good enough. Credit to Bristol City, the early goal allowed them to set-up with men behind the ball and then look to get Maynard in behind on the break and Nicky was clever in that he identified early on that he should target St Ledger who had a shocker. He was about 2 yards behind Bamba all game which meant we could never catch Maynard off-side and then to gift them their goal like that was unacceptable. What is worrying is that two teams have come here and played us on the break and have beaten us. Thankfully I doubt Forest will do that at The City Ground so we might be able to play them toe-to-toe as it were so I think we'll fare better in that one. But we do need more potency up front (which we're trying to address) and creativity in midfield. Bristol City were very clever in that their 5 midfielders were all very narrow and it was almost 5 centre-mid's that they played with so what we should have done is tucked the wide players in more to even up the numbers and use the full-backs to give width. That happened sometimes (mainly down the left with Konchesky and Gally) but not often enough. I think the diamond formation should be used because it gives us more numbers in midfield and ensures that Nugent won't be left isolated. Definately not time to consider sacking the manager because he has built a strong squad that I think needs more time to gel together and if we can be there or there abouts and in touching distance of the top two come the turn of the year, I think we have the squad to be able to push on in the 2nd half of the season once they have gelled properly and the depth to counter some of the fatigue that some other teams might be feeling. Shouldn't panic yet, it's still early and we are more than capable of recovering. As long as we learn and improve from these two defeats, I think we can still push for auto's.
The owners wouldn't sack him anyway, he is one of their key marketing tools at the Thailand Advertisement Stadium, and part of the reason for his hiring was his world-wide reputation. We'd have to be in pretty steep **** before they considered getting rid of him, unlike trigger-happy Mandaric. I'm prepared to give him 12 games, I don't expect to be top of the league by then but we MUST have shown an improvement in terms of performances and league table position.
