    Lets all hope that this is the last time we get stuff like this, I am looking forward to an end to the speculation, one way or the other we will either get him or the window closes, this is the latest from the Telegraph;

    Sven-Goran Eriksson is prepared to break Leicester’s transfer record with a £6 million offer for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard to finally bring his lavish spending spree to a close.

    The Leicester manager has been given the green light to make a fourth bid for Maynard, 24, before this week’s transfer deadline and attempt to end his summer-long pursuit of the highly-rated forward.

    A proven goalscorer has been Eriksson’s main priority but moves for Shane Long, Robbie Keane, Jermaine Beckford and Emile Heskey have all failed.

    But Championship side Leicester are ready to make Maynard their 13th new recruit, taking their spending past £15 million.

    Eriksson, though, will struggle to make a shrewder signing than Kasper Schmeichel, with the goalkeeper’s heroics earning the Swede his first victory at the King Power Stadium this season.

    Schmeichel, a £1.2 million buy from Leeds, produced four stunning saves to deny Southampton a deserved point just a week after his contentious dismissal at Nottingham Forest.

    And team-mate Richie Wellens believes Schmeichel can follow his father Peter by playing in the Premier League.

    He said: “I was at Manchester United when his dad was there. He is the best goalkeeper that’s ever lived and Kasper has so many similarities.”

    Leicester looked comfortable when Darius Vassell and Wellens gave them an early two-goal advantage and though Dan Harding reduced the deficit, an own goal from Rickie Lambert appeared to put the home side in control.

    But David Connolly gave Southampton hope and Eriksson then needed Schmeichel to deny Adam Lallana twice, Connolly and Lambert to secure a welcome win.

    Charlie Austin has only just moved to Burnley. He has started this season well but he is still unproven in this league and that is not what we need
