Hasn't been mentioned much in the aftermath but I though he played very well and didn't seem fazed by the occasion.

Very assured on the ball good movement and was also accurate with his passing.

With Shelvey out for 3 games what are his chances of filling in for him?

He was very composed for an 18 year old making his debut in premiership, and still wasn't fazed when Robin Van Persie attempted to kick him up in the air.

Great ball control and just strides past tackles without needing pace. Put a few great balls through to our useless strike force too.

Without needing pace? He's no slouch thats for sure. For one so young, his game intelligence is wonderful.

Suso. Still has a lot to learn. His performance against United was a great leap forward to his performance against Young Boys. A different type of player to Shelvey. I hope he plays against WBA for 2 reasons. Firstly to see if he is strong enough to last a full game. Secondly to teach him about the difference in physicality that he will face in the senior game.

I meant he isn't knocking the ball forward and sprinting, neither is he using copious amounts of trickery. He just has great ball control and avoids challenges constantly.

Start him v Norwich. I like the way Gerrard and Allen controlled the midfield v United. Stick Suso in front.

He could be our 'Mata' or 'Silva' - has fantastic technique and intelligence and knows how to use his body to evade challenges. Played a nice through ball to Suarez as well so he has an eye for a pass.

Confident performance from Suso - hopefully we will see more.

Suso, Shelvey and Sterling - Rafa can pat himself on the back! <applause>

  9. How come no one has mentioned his venture into the box and his shot (that was going in the top corner prior to being saved) after the Suarez layoff (two surprises in one)...?

Also, I remember Suso venturing into the box and had a great effort on goal after some great link up play with Suarez...

i was saying all last season that our first 11 should be

    GK:Reina
    RB: Johnson
    LB: Enrique
    CB: Agger
    CB: Skrtel
    CM: Suso
    CM: Lucas
    CM: Gerrard
    RF: Suarez
    LF: Sterling
    CF: Carroll......

Looks like we may end up not too far from that fairly soon, but with some of the new guys involved and no Carroll..

He skinned scholes on the build up to the goal.

I think susuo had a dip about 18months ago and borrell really took him to task. I thinkthe boy's work rate is fantastic... he's genuinely two footed and has amazing vision. if he keeps the work ethic up he'll be very important to us i think...

rudolfo borrell did a great job here.

I also BTW honeslty think the only thing rodgers can do right now is push gerrar dinto the fals 9 position mentioned by bluff.

right now ithink we must get a team of:

    reina
    jonhson skertl coates enrique
    sahin allen henderson
    sterling gerrard suarez

going... i hope agger and lucas get back quick!

funnilty enough if sahin was fitter his left foot would give great balance to henderson or allen on the right side...... yes i'd push gerrard on and let him do that.. it'd mean his passing ability would be lost but compared to the alternative.....

He'll also be relatively unmarked - the fuss will be on Sterling, Suarez, possibly Sahin and Stevie.

    The five 'S's!
