Just a thought, but with what we expect to be a new, passing style, will we see Suso used next season? I'm not saying starting, but perhaps off the bench (much like Sterling this season, although maybe more so). Is it too early? The board is very quiet at the moment, let's have a proper discussion
Rodgers likes to bring through younger players so I would certainly expect to see some sub appearances for Suso, Sterling and Coady next year. However, I would be very surprised if they started any games besides the UEFA early phases and the odd lower cup round. Next season will be bringing them through, with the hope they make a big impact the season after. Very excited about this trio though. [edit] Almost forgot, I think Silva will make a real push for some appearances next year too, he's highly rated in one of our problem areas currently.
I assume you mean group games since Chelsea winning CL means we don't have to qualify...? I'd be surprised if Suso got much game time to be honest, he is only 18 (19 in November). I think he may get the odd appearance here and there though I expect to see a little more of Sterling still still not a regular first teamer
When did Wilshere first play for Arsenal? Do we think he'll make it? Really hope he does, classy player and exactly what we need.
I was under the impression that because Chelsea won the CL, Spurs got the highest placed Europa spot (group) and we ended up getting the lowest. Meaning, we have to go through qualifying...I could be wrong and happy to be proven so, however.
Suso was my tip to get game time under BR simply because I think he'll fit well into the type of style I expect us to be playing maybe too early yet but would love to see some of the younger players coming through and getting some first team action at some point thru the season.
Spot 1) The winners of the FA Cup get a Europa League Group spot. If the winners have qualified for CL then the place goes to the runners-up, if they too have a CL place, then the place goes to the next non-qualified team in the league. Spot 2) The fifth placed EPL team get a Europa League Group spot. If a team outside the top four wins CL, this spot goes to the fourth placed team. Spot 3) The winners of the Carling cup have to play qualifying games. If the winners have qualified for CL or have one of the better placed qualifying positions, then the place goes to the next non-qualified team in the league. Because Chelsea won the CL, Liverpool get spot 1. Tottenham get spot 2 and Newcastle spot 3.
I hope you're right and it sounds correct, but this differs from what it says on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012–13_UEFA_Europa_League#Teams
IMO the young lad from sporting, suso and sterling will all either need proper quality loans or be used. their age means they MUST be progressed or wasted.
16 years old. Made his debut for us in the 08-09 season. I suspect if you are going to see Suso, it will be probably be in the Carling Cup.
Never seen him play live. But did watch a Youtube video, and his range of passing was excellent, especially his cross-field passes.
There are a lot of good youngsters in the reserves and U18's and this is the first time in many years (maybe ever) that we have had such a good bunch, Rodgers is coming in at a good time. If he can buy well in the Summer and then bring through players like Suso, Sterling etc then he may have a good start.
FA Cup winners dont normally have to qualify. We take Chelsea's place because they're in CL. Can't get simpler than that
