WBA are a good side and I think the emphasis was always going to be on your home games anyway, which IMO are still easily winnable unlike your remaining away games I'd forecasted you'd stay up on 37 points and still stand by that. It won't be easy but it's still very much doable. Spurs are rocking at the moment and seem in free-fall, despite this they are still a good side and in their position on merit, however you seem to have done better against the better footballing sides. Arsenal are a better team than Spurs and you played them off the park, a similar effort would almost certainly see off Spurs. Spurs have not won an away game in 2012, I'd adopt an approach similar to what you did against Chelsea and Arsenal. The Wembley pitch is bound to of sapped some energy out of themand their defence is down to the bare bones. Zamora will be key as will Cisse who wil be returning from his ban. As for Stoke due to their style this could perhaps be the harder home game of the two, I'm sure Pulis will use Crouch as an anchor as per and get Cameron Jerome alongside him feeding off the Knock downs. I genuinely think this will be harder of the two but Stoke are not the best travellers so anything is possible. Anything at the Etihad or Stamford Bridge is unlikely but still a bonus, hopefully for you guys the title will be done and dusted so City may be a bit more relaxed, I still think they will want to do well and they seem to play better when the pressure is off. Wolves are gone now and I expect City to hammer in the final nail Sunday week, Blackburn are also gone IMO, can't see them winning any more games this season and will surely get a backlash from Norwich after they lost 6-1. Bolton will have enough to stay so the way I see it is that it's a 2 way fight between you guys and Wigan. People point to your run in but I'd argue Wigan's on paper is just as tough and to be perfectly honest who you play at this stage of the season carries far less significance. It's all in the balance but I'm sure 37 points will be enough.
"Survival is easily possible" "I'd forecasted you'd stay up on 37 points and still stand by that. It won't be easy but it's still very much doable." That's clear then (chortle, chortle)
I'm going to try and stay positive and optimistic until the end. Hopefully, if we are still in for a shout on the last day of the season, Man City don't play like they did at Norwich today. I guess relegated Doncaster should be feeling sorry for themselves after conceding 2 goals in stoppage time and losing to Pompey (who are also a strong candidate for the drop).
to be fair to doncaster, the referee was terrible, 2 questionable penaltys and the other 2 goals looked like handball
i agree district. Quite a few QPR fans are prone to swinging for excessive optimism when a result goes well to nihilistic despair when one doesn't. The truth is that nothing has been decided and you're in there still. Who you play doesn't matter half as much at this point, and fitness and desire are much bigger factors. Its really less about who you play now, than how you play them. Despite losing today you didn't fold, unlike Blackburn. And while Bolton have games in hand, you have points. Much more valuable at this stage. You'll need to have fought out of it before the man city game to be honest, but i think the next three can all be confidently targeted for wins, especially as both spurs and chelsea have a split focus at this stage.
Well said. We weren't great today and still should have got a point. Bolton and Blackburn are **** and we just have to hope that teams like West Brom and Swansea with little to play for can play to their potential when they play them. Spurs at home is winnable- they're bottlers. Chelsea may just have their finger in too many pies when we play them, City might go into our game off the back of embarrassingly throwing away the title once and for all and Stoke tend to finish their season on March 31st so there's still plenty to be optimistic about
I genuinely mean no offence to District Line, Fulham Traveller and Battersea Canary, but what is their fascination with the QPR board? I mean, apart from the odd occasion when I've contributed to another club's board when the Rs have been playing that team, I fail to see the fascination in continually posting elsewhere, unless you're a WUM. Sure, the three posters mentioned are not WUMs, but I do find some of their contributions a little patronising at times. I'm not suggesting they refrain - they're as much entitled to post on the QPR board as I am on the Dagenham Girl Pipers' (well, before the injunction anyway) - but I don't see the fascination. What's the motivation? I mean, do they frequent (say) the Stoke City board or the Wigan board on as regular a basis? Just asking.
cant speak for anyone else but you guys have been interesting to follow this season. The relegation battle is always interesting, and the other clubs at the bottom at the moment have very little going on on their boards, and little opportunity to discuss it. Thats why im on this multi club forum, because im interested in all the drama of the PL, not just norwichs progress. You guys have been a focal point of drama this year, and continue to be more so into the final stages. I'm not being patronising, and i don't try to assume i know how to tell you to play better ( unlike some posters to swansea the other day). I just figure external perspective might be a useful thing, as its hard to see the reality of the situation when you're so closely invested in it. And considering the amount of posters that hate norwich with a seeming passion on here and feel that we are in some way inferior, i do a pretty good job of not rising to it. Hope that clears it up?
Thanks for the response, Battersea Canary. Interesting. There's no shortage of drama at (say) Manchester City, what with their pursuit (and possible failure) of 4-5 trophies this season,Tevez, Balotelli etc. There's no shortage of drama at (say) Blackburn, what with the Steve Kean hate campaign, Venky's ownership and their relegation battle. There's no shortage of drama at (say) Chelsea, with AVB's sacking, Lampard's relegation to the bench, Torres' barren form and their pursuit of the Champions League. I suppose we should be flattered that we're more interesting than all of that. Last word on the subject is all yours.
Speaking personally, I'm always interested in what they say because they can see things from a different perspective. I've always found their contributions constructive.
Personally, yes you are more interesting. You came up alongside us, (as well as swansea whose board i also post on) you've undergone much bigger changes in personnel than most, both on the pitch and off, you have a central figure in Barton who is highly visible in the public eye, you have made a number of big name signings who are looking to make it big again, you've had lots of drama of the ball, you've had a run of form well below the general expectation, and now you've shown that despite that the team are capable of beating even top teams, putting you in with a good chance to avoid relegation. All fairly exciting, and looking like it could end of a positive note, which seemed quite unlikely a few short weeks back. Also, my first post on these forums was a cross thread between Norwich and QPR. I found a number of your fans to be friendly and appreciative (brixton and telford to name but two) so have liked reading there comments and posting here since. If i seem patronising i apologize, its not intentional, and as i've said many times i'd like QPR to stay up, and believe when it all comes together they can. Tell you what, i'll drop back to reading only for the rest of the season, and that way i won't have any posts that can cause offence. So till the final day, good luck! Hope we can do you a favour against blackburn.
Agree with Goldie, other fans perspectives are always welcome when they're mature and respectful, they provide a great insight that we as QPR fans might be too close to the action to see. You're always welcome District and Battersea
we have a great board here and its very entertaining everyone is welcome ... we should introduce web cams then we could watch the likes of Cerny and Swords in their racing gear rolling around on their beds 0 800
I find it interesting to see an outsiders comments on QPR, and tbh posts like this one can help me to feel a bit more positive when opposition fans provide us with a different perspective. Thats what makes not606 better than the other boards imo. There is cross threads with other clubs and the ability to get opinions of those who are not emotionally affected by their own teams performace. I say, keep posting guys!
