Surely levy should show some ambition?

Surely this window Levy needs to go all out for that top striker we been craving since berbatov left. I know we only have 1 day left but surely levy has something up his sleeve. For me personally i would be very annoyed if we fail to make a signing this window.

You can turn around and say i should be happy considering how well the clubs doing and i am extremely happy but last seasons shambolic jan transfer window was a major factor why we didn't make the top 4 and i really don't want a repeat of that with us messing up all the good work because we were to tight to dip into our pockets for once.

When i say a top striker is needed i'm not going to be unrealistic and say messi but why the hell haven't we snapped up this leandro guy? We have great connections with his club and the guy is a supreme talent plus very young, we will end up missing out big time with this one and it's extremely fustrating because it seems to be a constant cycle with spurs and our inability to get a deal done quickly. I just feel 1
Top striker like this leandro and the top 4 will almost be ours but somehow i feel not dipping into the market could bite us in the a ss like last season, god forbid adebayor gets injured then we are truely fcucked upfront, rant over boys Coys!!!

On the off chance we somehow end up with Leandro, Loic Remy and Rasmus Elm all signed tomorrow, that would be the sort of dealing to secure CL football for next season - and sooth some of the nerves of people getting pee'd off that we're always statuesque until the last minute.

Leandro's the only likely arrival of the three for now, though.

Leandro makes sense to me, both because keeping Adebayor next year looks iffy, and he needs cover now. It looks like the perfect time to take a chance on a striker like Leandro.

Leandro in January, Remy (or maybe Cavani) in the summer? Sounds like a plan.

We should have bought him in the summer Don, when he was going at a far more reasonable price. We didn't, and now they want millions more for him. Alright, he's a bit of an untested, unknown quantity. But, top strikers ate like hen's teeth, nowadays. Easier said than done to find one at a sensible price.

I wonder how much money Levy thinks it wise to spend.

My guess is that if we don't sell or buy this window, we'll probably end up with a small financial loss overall this financial year, given the loss of CL money.

Of course there's always the 'speculate to accumulate' angle, maybe Levy doesn't want to gamble ATM.

No Don, what Levy needs to show is an even accounts balance, we're in the same position as the last 3 windows in still having high wage takers on the books not involved with the first team, having failed to sell them. We simply cannot keep adding to the wagebill, his calculator must be steaming trying to crunch the numbers to keep Modric and possibly Ade, its just the way it is. You can criticise Levy for handling of potential sales we've had that fell through over his hardball, but thats all.

That's what is annoying guys, as nowsuffering states... We should of snapped this leandro up in the summer and once again our dithering has cost us. Now i'm hearing money bags PSG aka the french chelski are interested which means we have no chance now. I just get fed up with our tactics in the window, we never do things the easy way.... Ah well, one positive...atleast were not arsenal

Internacional were playing silly buggers in the summer, not least because that was two thirds of the way through the Brazilian season and looking to qualify for the Copa Libertadores. Now it;s the beginning of their season, they're (more or less) qualified for the CL, and have time to replace him as the season has barely started.

@ notso, i agree but how is levy ever going to resolve this issue when he slaps unrealistic price tags on our deadwood? The likes of gio and pav will be buzzing around for eternity because levy can't take a hit on his investment and has to try and claw back every penny, he needs to wake up and smell the coffee, het rid of our deadwood and then buy quality.

We still could have tied up an agreement a la Sandro at a far better price than that being asked now. And, unfortunately, if we don't pay it, somebody like PSG, will.

I thought we had already agreed to sign Elm.
I have mentioned many times Levy doesn't play our his transfer dealings through the media,so any mention in the papers or Sky is pure speculation.
The one thing I can say is he is always trying to secure the right deal for the club and won't be held to ransom by some dodgy agent.

  14. I rather fear that Harry's fraud trial has put a spanner in the works, this window, as I said in the other thread.

i always see january as a time to buy an eperienced head from the premier league so that he can hit the ground running..what with being familiar with the league...foreign players need to adjust and when we are at the business end of the season that can be as liability.

    and...hello Don...nice to have ya back :emoticon-0150-hands

Not having played in europe shouldn't be an issue in my opinion, Sandro had never played in europe and he has been fantastic for us.

I suspect that most clubs (especially Liverpool & Chelsea) are a bit wary of buying proven PL players in January( Torres & Carroll anyone)!.
You think you are getting quality, but as Dona_mara said it sometimes it takes a while for players to settle.

The 2010 window only had £29mill spent, a couple of million more than we have currently and 2008 only had £50mill. It appears it only goes crazy every other year.
