I know we have under half a season to play and this topic could be made pointless but is no one concerned about next season if we didn't get promotion? We have several players out of contract this summer and these are the following I expect to not gain a new contract: Faye, Dawson, Olofinjana, Devitt, Simpson, Cullen This just leaves Rosenior and McShane with the most probability of gaining a new contract. In addition I expect McKenna and McLean to be available for transfer for pennies. So that leaves the following squad: GK: Jakupovć, Oxley RB/RWB: Rosenior CB: Chester, Hobbs, McShane, Bruce LB/LWB: Dudgeon RW: CM: Meyler, Quinn, Evans, Cairney LW: Brady, Stewart AMC: Aluko, Koren FW: Fryatt, Proschwitz This leaves us short of a: GK, RB, CM (Hardman), RW, FW If we gain promotion fine, we will have the money to fill these gaps with 'premiership quality'. If we don't we probably don't have a lot of money to spend due to the new financial rules and the Allams being not that wealthy. We may even have to consider selling the likes of Chester and Aluko to raise funds for players. Just a what-if scenario. Hopefully we will get the players we need this January and be scheduled come August to play Manure next season.
Nope. I shall think about next season when this one is finished. Far too much football to be played to even consider next season. People need to calm down and relax. FFS.
If we fail to get promoted I can't see Hobbs or Chester Been here. So we will need two CB's as well. But theres still alot more to happen yet. We'll worry about it if and When.
Welcome to the board offside_trap and a good first post. If SB is still on board I would trust him to get the squad in shape whether we go up or not.
If we don't go up then I will just keep on supporting Hull City and Hope we make it next season... Or the one after Or the one after that. Could be alot of decent players out of contract or released by clubs and it may be a case of Steve Bruce having to see who he can bring in .. Of course we might just make it this season...
Let's look at who we've signed in the past year - players are available to replace any who leaves us.
Mckenna's effectively gone now after his loan to Fleetwood as his contract is up in June anyway. Mclean won't (hopefully) go for pennies having cost us £1.4m. Personally would still keep Simmo but the others on your list can and will move on. My understanding is that Rosey and probably Macca will/have been told to stick around. Wouldn't expect Hobbs to leave and the recent form of Chezzy has hardly set the PL agents on full alert.
If we didn't get promoted then I think we may offer Faye, Simmo & Mcshane new deals on lesser wages but I cannot see Rosenior getting offered a new deal as he needs first team football and he will not be first choice here
On teletext on Sky Rosey says he wants to stay here and fight for his place. He believes he is the best right back in the league, and his nan would kill him if he left.
