    Have you ever done it?

My two lads were born and bred Derbyshire. I have taken them to many a game as bairns. Found myself cheering along with them. Got dragged to Wembley when they lost to Villa. Sat next to a couple of massive, so put on a canny act.

I have supported local non league clubs loads on big FA cup occasions. Those are mega days really. Around here you get all sorts coming together for 1 big day out.

I support Brazil unashamedly, unless playing England.

    Anyone else?

    Nope, never.

I go to plenty of non league games but don’t have a particularly favourite club. I go up Scotland the odd time to watch Queen of the South but that’s just because me and a couple of the lads enjoy it at Dumfries. I like Hartlepool to do well but only as I played there years ago and know quite a few Poolies.

Sunderland and Sunderland only, I’ll never get those who claim to ‘support’ one of Celtic or Rangers too. Mental imo.

When I was 15/16, me and a school mate used to go to Newcastle games when the lads were away, but never applauded them.

Went to the Blyth Spartans cup game which was held at St James's

Supported the lads since 74 (when my dad started taking me when I was 11). I tend to support the underdog whenever watching a neutral game, probably due to following Sunderland all my life. Wanted arsenal to win the Premier just because money has ruined the game.

Its hard enough supporting sunderland let alone anyone else!!

I obviously want the team i scout for to do well, but even if they lose im never in the mood i am when we lose

Went to a few raith rovers game when younger so hoping they get back to SPL soon and the father in law is a celtic fan so kinda have to wish them well (when hes with me)

But sunderland and sunderland only for me - its in the blood

Big difference between supporting a second team and having a sort of liking for another team though.

Sunderland take up way too much of my time and affect my stress levels way too much to be able to support another team.

Follow my local non league team and always want them to do well but it doesn't bother me if they lose.

Work for a different club so obviously want them to win but its more of a business transaction than a passionate support.

Support Sunderland and Sunderland only. I keep an eye out for Notts County purely because about 20 years ago, football focus was on and it did a feature on County and how the owners were absolute ****e, hadn't paid the players in weeks. Their captain was interviewed, and when asked about strike action he said it isn't the fans fault, we cant punish them. They were turning out playing for nothing. When asked how the players were paying the bills, he said borrowing from family, other players from different clubs etc. I thought his answer was magic when he said it wasn't the fans fault. Ever since, I've looked out for their scores, but that's as far as it's went. England ofcourse, because I'm English.

    I need to clarify...

On a bit of a one off, never cheered another side. Never gone to a game Sunderland have no interest in and joined in with one set of fans. Never been to your local non league side and cheered them on.

Not asking you to wear a half and half scarf or anything <laugh>

I follow Stockports results, last went in maybe 2019 when they were non league but nowhere near the same buzz and excitement as watching the lads. Not close.

My love of football came primarily from me Ma's dad. He was a Chelsea fan, born and raised round the corner from Stamford Bridge. So I've always had a soft spot for them. Two of my best mates are Carlisle and Chesterfield fans, have followed both of those clubs home and away. In laws are all West Ham ST holders, so have watched them a lot. There is also heavy family involvement in non-league football so have followed several non-league clubs on that basis, and been involved with several myself as a scout. As a football hipster, I have a deep and irrational obsession with Corinthian-Casuals.

Sunderland only for me, hasn't stopped me watching lots of NE local teams South Shields, Gateshead when they played at Redrough ? Park. Pools and Darlington all during the early 60s but passionate only about the lads.
Often wondered why I've stuck with them so long but its in the blood and there's no escape.
Followed my dad's love of everything red and white, he's got a lot to answer for, bless him.

Man Utd. Long before my son came along. My best mate at school was a Itd fan. His parents were from Manchester originally. Used to go to Old Trafford regularly in the Stratford end. My mate used to come to Roker with us too.

Been to see Jarrow a couple of times, nothing major. I could get to South Shields via a couple of companies but I’m a Jarra lad and the sand dancing bastards can piss off and take their ground back to Shields with them.

Got a soft spot for Brighton, other than any that affects us, its one of the first results I look for.
As a teen I worked in a hotel down there mid 80's, working split shifts. To get my footy fix I used to watch Brighton....my bedsit was about 500 yards from the Goldstone ground.
Went back a couple of times with Sunderland, 86 and 87 I think. Sure we lost the first one 3 -1 (a Venison OG springs to mind) and won 3 - 1 in 87.

Followed United as a kid because Cantona.

And for some weird reason I loved Poborsky.

My grandma went to Florence or something on holiday and came back with snide strips for me and my brother. Think he got Juve and I got Inter. Mine went straight into the bin. Because Maldini.

Full on Scunthorpe supporter if I couldn’t get to a game. Loved going to the Old Show Ground in the 70s and 80s and to the new ground Glanford Park. Saw some cracking games there.
Ps in the close season, followed Nunnawading in the Australian 3rd division.

The Poborsky thing probs because of the goal he scored in Euro 96?
I've liked Man Utd since the mid 70s cos my dad supports them.
