I'm the last person who'll accept someone who supports a so called "second team". In fact, in Ireland most people will say Celtic are their second team even though they probably can't even name 3 players. Actually scratch that, most Irish people who say Celtic are their "first team" can't even name 3 players! But in saying that, I'll be keeping an eye out for Stockport this season in the conference as they are under the leadership of the legend that is Didi Hamann and his freaky German/Scouse accent! Was watching them tonight against Forest Green and they went in at half-time 1-0 down and I can only imagine Didi gave them a Rafa/Istanbul inspired team talk as they managed to get a 1-1 draw out of the match and could have won it. Good Luck Didi and hope to see you in the Football League next year!
Brighton for me. Hometown club, wonderful new stadium and hopefully will be in the prem next season with Liverpool
Horsham. My local non-league side. Oh and good luck to Didi and Stockport. Let's hope he can take them back up to League 2!
My local club is Scunthorpe United, who I keep an eye on. You can see why I'd rather watch Liverpool over them though!
Nottingham Forest for me I did some training in the RAF near to the ground and would go watch them for something to do. I always keep an eye on them.
neuchatel xamax home club here, unfortunatelynot doing too well.... new owner makes abramovich look like a godsend... http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/07/24/soccer-europe-swiss-neuchatel-idUKL3E7IO0CO20110724
Its THE POSH (peterborough united) for me.Dont get to see them much as I work saturdays.Good luck to them for the season ahead it's gonna be a tough one.
I haven't got a second team, I've got 3 of them: Yeovil Town - only because I live in Somerset Sporting Lisbon - because one of my best mates supports them (he's Portugese) and he took me along to see them. Perth Glory - because my son lives in Perth
Best answer in this thread My soft sports - Aston Villa/Birmingham City/West Bromwich Albion - Live within five miles of all their stadiums. Unfortunately they didn't do a good job in getting my support when I was a kid. But they shouldn't feel too dishearted, it was more LFC being a great club than them being ****e. Newcastle - Hate seeing what Mike Ashley's doing and they have a great set of fans. Arsenal - They might be our top four rivals but throughout the season it was nteresting seeing my younger brother panic over conceding a goal whilst we lost game after game. When we started winning it went downhill for them. I have a soft spot because they do have a good crop of players but lack a real team core/spirit. I admire Robin Van Persie more than anyone else from the club. On match days their my biggest rival though, unfortunately we haven't managed to get anything other than draws over the last few games but can't wait for us to battle it out this season. Manchester City - Yes they spend and people hate it but I find it entertaining watching them sign world-class players which the rich lifestyle then wanting to return to their home countries after a few years. Their a flash club and I only like their players because of that to be honest. Carlos Tevez in his hummer and Balotelli in his Maserati. A club full of celebrities more than anything.
My second club used to be AC Milan who I used to keep an eye on the scores etc.. but then after 2005 it ruined it for me and so just stopped following them. I was never really serious about the team, just liked the club.
Juventus, Santos, Monterrey and Malaga ( pre money!!!!!) and of course like BLR, the USMNT and our encouragingly witty chant of "USA USA USA" strikes fear in the opposition..... Juve- Zizou, Davids, Nedved, Del Piero, simple as Malaga- When I was a wee sprout went over for a tourney and was housed in fuengirola and played and trained with the Malaga Cf youth teams, top stuff. Then went to to Madrid for the rest of the trainings, also got to see Gibralter which was nice, but threw me off being Spanish and English. Monterrey- When I was more of a wee sprout, went over to train and play against Monterrey and Cruz Azul. Monterrey was incredible absolutely beautiful and the stadium was packed and rocking, Cruz Azul was in Mexico City and was nasty and the stadium was lackluster, I expected more. Also the women in Monterrey, wooft.
Oh and Santos, went to Brazil when I was 18 with my college and played against Guarani, palmeiras, san jose, and another team that was local but has slipped my mind. Travelled to Santos for one of our training days, ran along the beach, got involed in some beach soccer er I mean footy, and got to walk out onto Santos pitch, see the museum, and of course.....got to watch Robinho, Elano, Diego murder some team and I couldn't beleive the ferver of the crowd for a simple run of the mill game, really got me hooked into Santos.
