Just reading some threads slating people who don't support their local team. Technically for me I should support Brid or Scarborough, but I don't, I could also say that Leeds is close enough to be called a local team. I moved to Manchester & then we got promoted to the PL. I always said I supported Hull before that but for new people that met me they had no proof that I wasn't some glory fan. If this is the case I should have supported Man Utd as they were 1/2 hour walk from my house. Who cares who anyone supports as long a the can give you a reason other than they win everything. A lot of my friends are Man Utd & Man City fans, not just from Manchester either. But I have friends who are Liverpool fans, when they started supporting them they were winning loads but now still support them regardless. Some people support a team because they win things, some because their Dad or family relative supports them. Some because they just liked the badge or nickname. Many reasons why.

I totally agree with you Brucebones the only thing i find strange is when someone supports another city or town when they are playing against there own city or town. iI will always remember when i was a young lad of about age 7 sat on a train with my Dad and he got talking to this bloke about football. He said he was going back to Nottingham where he lived and had just been to see forrest and Leeds at Elland rd, Forrest won and my Dad said i bet your pleased but he said he was gutted because he hated Notts forrest the city he came from and was a big Leeds fan. AT that age i thought it was strange and it has stuck with me ever since

Who do these idiots support in the World Cup?

"I support Leeds in domestic football, Kent in cricket, Germany in World Wars and Brazil in the World Cup."

    Bizarre.

And of course, ****ers of the highest order.

There's nothing else happening at the moment except idiots posting **** about what they think/want in January. What's the point of any of the threads that have no facts to them.
As for your school reference, most people who are at school & on holiday at the moment wouldn't post such a long opening statement & most of it would be spelt wrongly & in text speak.

I think you're looking into the 'Local' team situation a bit too much really. You should support your most local professional side whilst also giving support to your minor local ones too for example:

I support Hull City because that's the nearest Professional football side and the City I was born in. However, I do make the effort to see North Ferriby too.

People who live in Hull and support Man Utd or Arsenal are just dicks basically. Or small kids who just want to support a team that their mates think are a good side... <doh>

    Two things:

    1. The English in your post isn't that great anyway.

    2. What do you mean by local? Do you mean teams that are actually local, or teams that the BBC WANTS us to think are local?

I'm trying to think of a post with less understanding of the subject than this one but it is difficult to come up with one.
There are so many flaws in your argument I cannot be bothered pointing them all out.

Well I'm so pleased I won't have to read any further pointless reply from you.

What loyal supporters they must be - supporting the Reds through thick and thin in the top half of the Premiership.

I can only assume you have consumed far more than a bottle of wine to come up with that piece of garbage, some of it contradictory, some of it merely infantile.

    Born in Hull.
My Grandson (9) has it right he is a Southampton season pass holder but has a.so been a match mascot for city. We can't get the city away top off his back. Odd when he wears the saints shorts! He got two new dressing gowns on city and one saints. His view is that he supports saints first and city second. He also goes to our local team AFC Totton as well. He is actually a very knowledgeable player and fan. He is just so passionate about the game it's unreal At the moment he plays in goal. Yet last season he was his teams highest scorer. When I asked him why, his answer was, I know I will always get a game if I'm in goal!

By the way picking on someone for posting a new thread is a bit petty, if you don't like it just ignore the thread.

local can be trumped by other things. possibly where you're from, possibly where parents are from. etc.

agreed, takes longer to reply to it pedantically than it does to ignore it.

If everyone agreed with a post what a boring forum it would be- and there's no pint in just posting "I agree".

These glory-hunting ****s have blighted our city for decades, particularly the ones who support a local RL team but a Top 4 club.
