News today on CASTrusts latest campaign to help promote football for a fiver and extend the reach of the clubs marketing to fill the valley for the Wigan match as a pilot scheme http://www.castrust.org/2013/09/ordinary-fans-help-cafc-fill-valley/ Http://castrust.org/ftv Very simply every volunteer gives out 200 flyers in their neighbourhood etc to promote the offer, 50 volunteers equals.. Well you do the math. We've also helped Valley Gold get a website for zero cost which means more for the academy, and are helping supporter groups with IT and publicity You all know about http://castrust.org/valleyacv please sign up if you haven't already We are also promoting fan events and offering a fixture list to your phone and providing other services and articles (not forums I might add) We've built a network now including nearly 4000 fans (with some duplication) and 740 members. Should we be doing this or should we be waiting for a disaster and sitting in a back room somewhere? Or moaning through our keyboard? But seriously we can all have our views about how the club is run, shouldn't we also be doing something positive like supporting this initiative and trying to grow our regular attendance? (BR)
I am not sure why the Club has foolishly insisted on a £1 charity donation this time . If I were not already a ST holder who would rather spend a long weekend in a wig wam with Ed Miliband than miss a Charlton match, this form of Stalinist compulsion would force me to miss Wigan. Whatever next...." CAFC insists you must wear a Nelson Mandela T Shirt to see Barnsley for a fiver" ? I applaud the efforts of the Trust with this initiative, but don't like these ticket for a fiver gimmicks. The Valley may be full, but Giles and Annabelle from Blackheath, with their three adorable little cuddlies in tow, don't generate any atmosphere. They just fancy a cheap afternoon away from the Aga and their Polish au pair.
If we start playing entertaining football and sticking the ball in the net, you never know that might help fill The Valley, and on a regular basis too.
Whilst this reply is cringingly self serving. Your original post is most positive in that 'help the granny across the road' sort of way. However, please do not ever use the word 'math' instead of the correct English pronunciation, 'maths'. Next you will be calling football 'soccer' and that will certainly not do.
I reserve the right to boo my team - and to discuss Nelson Mandela on a thread relating to the supporters' trust. Is this a democracy, Tewks?
It was merely a polite request from Tewks. Now lets hope you/all of us wont be booing come 16:50 tomorrow afternoon!
Is Tewks anything other than polite, SuperC? It was just a little devilment on my part. As for tomorrow, I may make the trip up to Turf Moor, depending on cleared funds. But I won't boo...
Don't speak too son Ponders, see how you feel as the fourth Burnley goal rips in and we're all checking our watches to see how long till half time!
Ha! Fourth goal... Before half time... Oh dear... I didn't make the trip up to Burnley. I had to choose between the match and a carpet cleaner rental. I am currently waiting for the solution to soak into the deep-shag.
I did feel I was treading a fine line with that one, AllHell. I didn't mention the buffing up of my knob, though.
